We want customization!

The developers said that Midnight will not do anything for existing races:

Blizzard, what is going on? I honestly don’t understand why you treat your players this way!

For years, players have been asking you to add new hairstyles, hair colors, jewelry, tattoos, different accessories – anything for the already existing races.

And you’ve done nothing. :woman_facepalming:

Just look at the customization options for dracthyr in their human form and then compare them to Void Elves or Nightborne. It’s ridiculously unfair.

The same goes for classes and specs – people have been asking for cosmetic glyphs to visually add/change/hide some spell effects and abilities – again, nothing has been done.

You always seem to have the time and resources to create yet another no-name race, without history and culture, that 0.1% of players will actually play. You give them unique hairstyles, jewelry, fully voiced emotions and dialogues, racial transmogs and abilities… but why can’t you do at least something for the races that have been in Azeroth for decades, the ones your players truly love?

You promised to listen to the community, but over the years there have been hundreds of threads on these forums asking for more attention to races. For many players, the appearance of their character matters a lot.

This all looks really bad. I’m completely disappointed with the Midnight presentation and the developers’ position – you just don’t hear your players, and you’re completely detached from the reality of your own game.

First Rock Dwarves and now Dirt Elves.

Next up: Tree Gnomes.

The truth is people who care that much about what their avatar looks like are an extremely small percentage of the community, and the effort is not financially rewarding.

More people care about armor transmogs that would cover up avatar customization features, and the majority wins.

This just isn’t true. The mod that got banned on XIV for letting you see one another’s custom mods had over 100k users at a time when XIV’s playerbase is plummeting due to poor reception of the game. Obviously I’m not arguing for that level of customization (considering there were salacious types of customization) but players appreciate making their character appear how they envision them.

Did you know that transmogrification is one of the main and most popular features of WoW right now? It’s on par with raids and mythic+ dungeons

This indicates that the appearance of the character is important to players

And for some, it is not only the clothing that is important, but the character itself

When did we start playing XIV?

The armor. Which is what I said.

For an extremely small percentage. Which is, also, what I said.

Look at poor Kul Tiran. Even Pandaren. And Valupas are very limited.

This game could use a huge patch update with a boatload of customization added for everyone (sans Dracs and porcupine elves).

I’m surprised we didn’t get Blood Elf stuff for Midnight tbh.

Sure we are gorgeous, but even more gorgeous is okay too.

Also would dearly love it if we could have a no clipping option for helms.

My poor ears get tore up!

I love blood elf paladins :heartpulse:

From their POV, people care more about what their character is wearing than how they look under the armor.

And they’re right, for the record, but I personally believe that’s because the character model quality has declined as they age. WoD was a very long time ago.

Let me stop you right there, adding these customizations would bring a lot of players back into the game and Blizzard can make financial choices that will benefit them such as monetizing customization options at Trading Post. The Trading Post has been a resounding success and players have often renewed their subs (including me) just to obtain the limited time cosmetic rewards.

Clearly because no one quit the game because they didn’t have a specific hairstyle lol.

The very notion of that is beyond ridiculous.

On average, I visit the barber shop never. My characters are set it and forget it.

Obviously, additional options are always cool. But I’ll unlock the new Troll hairstyles and never use them - just like the Dark Ranger customizations and Night Warrior eyes before them.

I’m all for this because watching the fallout on GD would be truly hilarious.

Thank you for your very informative and well-argued comment. I’m glad I visited my thread. Now you have 27,339 posts, and if you weren’t my thread, it would be 27,338 :slightly_smiling_face:

I did. And many others that I know also did. Shadowlands was the first expansion where I really started to take long breaks. It’s actually shocking how negatively affected I was. It’s what happens when you are invested and passionate about something.

Why are we making up numbers?

There are entire portfolios from players showing off different types of customizations they’d want for different races. People making megathreads here on racial customizations for over a decade, people displaying different types of customizations they want on social media and Reddit.

Character customization is one of the things people look at in many RPGs and MMOs. It’s celebrated in some games, it’s so important to people.

I’ll have more before the end too lol.

No you didn’t, you literally need a sub to post here.
