Looking at our class compared to others, the DH community is 100% correct in dooming, our class from the top to the bottom is in a bad spot. We’ve had almost no changes at all, we don’t get any cool animations or synergy in our hero talents, our spec and class tree is an abomination with useless talents and weird positioning of vital talents, along with not getting our S3-S4 tier baked into the tree, so the whole right side of the tree feels bad to take. We were forgotten going into DF, we got a few new talents mid expansion, which was at best a half baked effort to bandaid our class until they could make real changes, which usually come at the start of the expansion. But here we are, close to a new expansion and we’re just forgotten again while other classes are feasting. Then we’ll get the excuse that they don’t want to completely rework a class mid expansion, it’s tiring.
The class desperately needs someone who is actually going to pay attention to it, like almost every other class dev does, cause it’s kinda their job. I can only imagine if we were blessed with a class dev that loved their class as much as the mage dev does, they get reworks constantly and cool animations/synergy. Good luck to all the DHs out there that are rerolling, or on the fence about rerolling. We’re doomed until mid expansion at best, when we get more bandaid fixes.
They probably don’t have many class devs. If they do, each dev oversees at least 2 classes each. I remember back in 2020 Blizzard lost Chris Kaleiki and John Yang as class devs. One of them said in an interview shortly after that they had been the only 2 class devs for years. So it is possible Blizzard only has a couple to a few class devs.
As for DH specifically, former WoW pro/Hearthstone pro “Realz” is the rogue and DH dev.
I’m not really impressed with the hero talents either. I didn’t care for all the changes in the havoc rework either in season 3, but I can live with it. The hero talents on the other hand, they’re so lack luster and there’s no shortage of the community complaining. Hopefully it changes eventually but I am not holding my breath.
A lot of rogue players aren’t enjoying the changes/hero talents on the beta right now either so Realz and whoever works with these classes have their work cut out for them.
Rogues and us had been sharing the same dev in DF and they were very act on both discords during the classes reworks. But recently they have seen to be awol from both, which probably explains why both classes are going into TWW in such bad shape.
whoever the DH class dev is, I’ll give you a dollar to swap with the mage/warlock dev so we can get class changes over here.
Priests and DH obviously don’t have a dev.
2 lines of “changes” in an entire beta talent changes post btw. Every other class got 3+ paragraphs minimum, DH gets a couple lines and one doesn’t even acknowledge an entire spec.
This explains a lot when it comes to how bad both classes did in beta.
Thoughts on the adjustments?
To good in ST highest damage now definitely getting the nerf bat in ST
Our class dev … I wont use words but we all know is absent. We got pushed to bottum on dps, dps isnt desired in mythic plus, raids bottum barrel. And we cant fly like dracthyr when it was hinted at when we came out but they gave it to dracthyr not us. We have wings…illidan flys.
The class is so bad now that I can’t even justify playing it as a casual player. It just feels awful and absolutely gutted out from what it once was.
Im well inclined to agree. I made my first posts on here and received a response from what I assume to be a developer or connected to the developers/input team. Here are my thoughts after the responses I’ve received from them:
Thank you very much for this feedback.
-Having said that, the response(s) I’ve accumulated suggest that I’m spending time on something that wont really have the impact myself and many others are looking for. I am positive there is much that goes on behind closed doors that I’m sure I’m not factoring into the equation and why this has been an ongoing thing for years, seemingly by design. Looks like I’ll have to deal with the uncertain ebb and flow of class balances that are often times remarkable in their differences. Here’s to not burning out.
…
Quite honestly, I feel this impending burnout. I like how they change things up but how can something perform so poorly where I’m watching talented users use various APL to get a solid insight to our class and just watch the hope just drain from their faces… there are often times years where classes/specs can and do remain in this state. It’s not a good look.
It’s so funny to me comparing the lists of changes between Rogue and DH vs. literally all the other classes in the 11.0.2 patch.
Rogue’s only slightly ahead of DH, and even Monk has four times the amount of changes.
They nerfed Fel Scarred ST which was already like 40% behind AR and buffed the AOE, honestly every week I’m just finding more reasons to play other games at this point. When its more frustrating and toxic than fun and enjoyable something is wrong.
Honestly Demon Hunter dev needs to be shown the door. We have wings but cant fly or hover like dracthyr or illidan. ANIMATIONS dated. New hero trees are broken dont flow like all other classes. They dont listin to us in forums. In a worse place than dragonflight worse than 10.2. Cant tank properly for mythics, cant dps enough to keep up with core classes.
Ahh i remember this time last year as a Dh main urging the community to rally around the idea that DH could use 3rd spec, that non mover should be more viable option than mover or split into seperate spec, that DH has too much button bloats and is moving to much more complicated spec than it traditionaly was. But i was met with denial here and insults in DH discord where admins only cared about change in playstyle because they were bored and wanted smth new not thinking about other half of DH mains who wanted to keep it simple. Now u guys got another nerf on party buff from 5% to 3%. Switching main from DH back than was a really good idea.
spliting a already incomplete spec into two specs is a horrible idea.
