This isn’t a redemption arc. Come on.

This has been set up since BfA, people. Xal’s entire personality is “Imma get revenge on those Void bastards”.

She is like Savathun in Destiny 2. Every single thing she does is for HER benefit. If it helps someone else, so be it. If it hurts someone else…all the better.

This is a regular trope that is easily seen. She will no doubt scarper off after we kill Dimensiuos and bring on the events of Midnight.

the dialogue feels so rushed, it’s kinda crazy how little effort is being put in to every facet of this game

Temporary truce to deal with mutual threat.

Though if you pay attention it seems like she’s setting the dominos up to fall in her favor when dimensious goes down.

We’ll be dealing with that in midnight is my guess.

So did you guys just never play any of the numerous expansions where the Alliance and Horde had to stop trying to kill each other exactly long enough to kill something worse?

I have no idea some people dont like Xalatath. The void has called us its champion for like iirc 2 expansions now, and we embody the principles of void which is strength, never trusting anyone, and murder hobo anyone for 6 pieces of gold and an ilvl increase.

Constantly rushing to increase ilvl/player power = strength
Never trusting anyone = this MMO has been more solo friendly than ever, and people barely communicate outside of a friend circle
Murder hobo = Doing anything for money, story continuation or rewards

The worst part is that she’s obviously plotting to stab us in the back. Equally as obvious is that the producers expect us to act surprised when it happens. This is the Theater Troop update we’ve all been waiting for!!

We are the Sith of the WoW universe, posing as the rebels! It’s genius!

I’m enjoying this twist and getting to see Xala’tath’s ruthless manipulation up close when it’s not directed squarely at us (she is E-V-I-L and I’m going in with the full expectation that we need to be ready to switch targets at a moment’s notice)

My one quibble with the questline is that my character is, at best, offering silent acceptance of this “bad idea” while there’s no better alternative available. I’m in no position to be the one convincing Allaria to go along with this.

Exactly how?

We’re not really allying with Xal’atath so much as she’s allying with us. She needs us more than we need her. Since we’re the ‘righteous’ ones, we’d rather figure out how to defeat Dimensius without even considering seeking out her assistance. This all fits Xal’atath’s character perfectly, but we’re being forced to go along with it with no agency and in spite of the fact that any intelligent audience member knows how this is all going to end. The story’s probably even going to write in that we’re ‘surprised’ or feel ‘betrayed’ when it happens.

As an aside, Alleria’s characterization in this part of the story is clearly meant to be our own reaction to working with her and finding out ‘the truth’ about K’aresh and the ethereals/brokers. I can understand the folks who got tired of being treated like the main character in the story for so many years in the past, but we’ve done pretty much a full 180 at this point with the story being all about the major NPCs saving the day instead of us. We’re just along for the ride rather than the ones driving the bus.

yeah… why in this world is anyone doing that. insane… no joke

By now, I’m rooting for the tentacles.

Xal is just funny to me, I can’t take her seriously.

We can fix her
