Gold is the true endgame of Classic. Without it, all you’d have to look forward to is raiding. Tokens do NOT belong in Classic.
lets invent a problem, exaggerate it, then complain and demand blizzard fix this imaginary problem with their non-existent dev team for a 15 year old game!
OP: Got any, like, data?
Just No. They should deal with the problems not start turning classic into retail.
You know what would be a really easy way to fix this?
Enable transaction tracking, then buy from the gold farmers, talking about blizzard here. Then you know who you purchased from, you know the trail. Then investigate all the involved parties.
Handout 3 month bans for all buyers, and permanent ban all farmers and sellers and any third party involved contributors.
we need better bans for goldsellers
It’s too little too late at this point, as that mine has already been mined dry. I tried to tell them to put this in at the start when it was important so they would have taken all gold trading revenue. They refused, and by not doing it, they let that market go entirely to third party websites.
At this point, the value of gold has plummeted about 90% since launch. So even if they do add tokens… it’s too late. You can’t wait until there’s only specks of dust left in the mine before you go digging in it. Gold selling websites already pillaged this market, and it’s Blizzard’s neglect that is to blame.
The worst part is that this is a lesson they already learned in the past. They added tokens to retail to seize the revenue that gold trading websites was taking away from the game. It was many years after I originally suggested it, mind you, but they did finally do it. Now they unlearned that 15 year old lesson and decided to let a fresh new market go entirely to waste, when they knew full well gold traders would take it.
The best thing they can do now is to add them before burning crusade, and when they launch new classic realms, HAVE tokens on them. These are new opportunities to take the market back when it’ll became valuable again. But right now, it’s too little, too late.
What do you think is going to happen if tokens are added? The fact that buying gold will potentially get you banned is a deterrent for many people. Open up gold buying to be legal, and the value of gold is going to be even worse.
Just like retail.
This is probably as simple as I could ever make it.
A) Tokens get Blizzard revenue that rightfully belongs to them, the developer.
B) No tokens sends the revenue to third party traders that have nothing to do with the game.
A is obviously better than B.
Don’t care if the ship sinks as long as the captain gets paid, huh?
Alrighty then.
I once saw a documentary way back in 2007 where one guy who did it said he did it to save time. He did not see it as buying gold but rather as paying someone the time they spent earning the gold in game.
It would be a good way to get rid of 90% of the bots on most servers, but with layering im not waiting in line behind bots so id rather keep it as close to no changes as possible, but if blizz keeps not banning bots, this is prob the only thing that could reduce their number.
the biggest cancer in this market is the gold buyer.
this cancer stays the same no matter where the cancer buys the gold its still cancer.
i think the cancer would even grow because more people think its okay to be cancer.
be aggressive. ban bots ban buyers permanently. and not only every 3 or 6 months. fokus on buttrekting the cancers.
Please link multiple factual sources on this.
Another way to look at it is a currency exchange. You already earned currency A. The other person already earned currency B. You are just trading A and B with each other.
No. Pay-to-win is bad. This would encourage and legitimize it, and greatly increase its prevalence. The only ones who would benefit would be Blizzard’s shareholders, and why should we care about them?
If they want more money, I’d rather they increase the sub price and use a portion of that to hire people to police and ban gold-buyers and sellers. And ban multiboxers while they’re at it. I’d pay it.
Yea no thanks on the wow token
I see a whole lot of gold buyers posting in this thread.
I agree with the sentiment that it is probably too late. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try to fix this problem.
They already openly support P2W if you multibox.
As much as he gets banned on the forums, I doubt it.
