We Need To Lose

Us “champions” have been winning for far too long and became spoiled, we need to be humbled. We need an expansion where we lose the final battle…like The Avengers did in Infinity War

If we lose, it needs to be to an interesting villain, not Xal’atath! Thanos was an interesting villain to lose to because he wanted to solve problems for the universe. Xal’atath is just evil.

Comic book Thanos is way more interesting than MCU Thanos.

We’ve lost before, TWICE canonically, it’s not a novel concept, nor does it really add much to the plot. Arthas kills you in Northrend in the original raid, and we suffer the same fate in Antorus against Argus. Also if you fail in Spires of Ascension or against Zovaal in Sepulchre you get a bad ending with Bastion and Azeroth respectively destroyed.

What we NEED are better villains, more villains like Denathrius with actual ploy and personality to them.

To be fair, I think that’s true of most live action comic movies/shows.

I would chuckle dwarvishly if the surface of azeroth was demolished and TWW underground is a precursor to the new thing.

They missed the opportunity when we fought N’Zoth. That could’ve been an epic fall.

That doesn’t really work when losing means that the player characters and (since Wrath) Azeroth itself are destroyed, and it doesn’t work from a gameplay perspective to have a raid fight be unwinnable. There are many scenarios where we lose, Season 2 of Dragonflight had us collecting losses with half of Loamm being wiped out and Iridikron escaping with the Dark Heart, but when the stakes are highest player characters need to either win, or fundamentally rework the entire setting. A devastating loss against Fyrakk or Xal’atath’s schemes would effectively require a new game entirely

Eh. Comic book Thanos is obsessed and in love with Death and just trying to win her affections by killing as many people as he can to send to her. Movie Thanos did terrible things, but believed he was doing noble deeds and saving the universe. I actually like movie Thanos more.

Weve lost a lot before. At the dark portal, the broken shore, the alliance lost their crew chasing the zandalari etc etc.

man, i started digging into that stuff recently, and, yeah. definitely seems way more ‘dimensional.’

The Arthas fight in ICC and Argus the Unmaker fight in Antorus were some of my favorite because we did die/lose. If not for the intervention of the Light and Titans, respectively, all would have been lost.

Movie Thanos was an IDIOT who doesn’t understand how population growth works.

He had the reality stone. He could literally rewrite the rules of the universe. Does he get rid of entropy? Does he create physics-breaking inexhaustible resources?

Nope. Wipe out half of all life which will be replenished in like two reproduction cycles.

Movie Thanos is a complete moron.

Yeah ok. Obviously subject to his writers, but it is still more interesting than being in love with Death and just wanting to commit genocide to win her affection. lol

He’s hardly the first person to do odd things to try to win his love’s attention.

Thanos is awesome either way. My preferences shouldn’t bother anyone this much. Brolin depicted him amazingly I thought and I think he came off more as a “Mad Titan” than he did in the original Infinity Gauntlet comics.

This is General Discussion!

kicks a gnome into a pit

If there’s one thing we love its getting upset over innocuous things.

I thought it’s either speculated or confirmed that we will lose sometime in The World Soul Saga. Things will get very bad in Midnight causing the Titans to come to Azeroth. I think we have to lose at the end of TWW, which will carry us into Midnight. I think things will get very bad before they get better. Keep in mind that The World Soul Saga is one massive story that crosses 3 expansions. Everything should be resolved by the end of The Last Titan.

Too true, too true.

Xalatath needs a win pretty badly. First she gets foiled. Mid-gloating, no less. Very embarrassing. That lets Khadgar out of her basement. Then her mechanic ripped her off.

She’s been having a really rough run of things. She can’t even get shoes that fit.
