The original map was almost impossible to clear by zugging pve. You couldn’t get up and survive the mines on the road without taking down the towers, vann was near unkillable without towers even if by some miracle you made it up.
And old AV isn’t just about the npcs and mine fields, the old map was a lot bigger, and even nostalrious didn’t have the original map. We need old AV with the original map, and all the old bosses and NPCs. It was a massive, epic war effort, that properly forced everyone to engage in the pvp objectives to advance the pve in the map. All of the quests and objectives were important.
Give us the original AV in all its glory, including recreating the original map. It was one of the greatest pvp experiences in video game history and it was criminal it was absent from original classic vanilla.
If you’re talking about the map used in the classic re-release then that’s a HARD NO from me. The map was waaaaay too Horde biased (albeit unintentionally). Trust me, Horde didn’t have a 95%+ AV win rate because they were “thirstier for pvp due to long queue times” or because of “better racials.” For starters, Horde can make it to Stonehearth Bunker before Alliance even can which is just ridiculous. But the true problem starts where both factions initially clash, which is Stonehearth Graveyard. Stonehearth Graveyard rezzes ten Alliance at a time while Horde pump out twenty from their spot. It doesn’t matter how skilled the Alliance team is. The number of Horde rezzing is too much to overcome. I’ve had countless AV games where Alliance finishes with a 5:1+ HK ratio over Horde but still lose due to the endless wave of Horde constantly coming at you. In the end, the numbers are just too much to overcome. I’m speaking of a pug v pug scenario, of course.
I’m sure blizzard could fix this up somehow. I haven’t been able to find what the original map looked like (is it any different besides the npcs, and mines??) but I reckon it would be an epic idea
Ah, I remember those days… but that win rate was also because alliance players were VERY terrible back then. It didn’t matter what you did if outside of a coordinated ventrilo team. I was one of those awful, awful players. Every match was pretty much a loss. The old map was biased for sure, but they could fix it up. The whole zerg to the end boss thing is really bad and very boring. As for the GY’s, they could just make it rez 20 at a time like the hordes.
/shrug nothing about the original map prevents zerging, and it has the same horde map advantage so that issue is going to pop up again in SoD potentially regardless.
Yeah this comment shows you’re confusing the true, original AV map with the map we got in 2019 classic. That was not even close to the original.
You also have no idea what you are talking about. Unnerfed AV is virtually impossible the push north without doing objectives due to the mine fields and pats with crazy damage. Even miraculously making it north, Van was near unkillable without towers.
Did you even play original vanilla? Doubtful. Old AV was not just a few more npcs and the horde cave slightly further south.
