We currently have 2 options:
- Use spell, aim, click to trigger (default behavior)
@cursor
instant cast (or@player
)
Neither of those are feasible for me. The first options introduces an unnecessary delay because it requires extra actions and clicking, and then second options makes it impossible for me to aim.
In the past I’ve used the addon “grounded”: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/grounded, which aimed to solve this issue by introducing a form of smart casting. While certainly not perfect and sadly clunky to set up (not the addon’s fault), this addon seems to no longer work in Dragonflight.
From the author:
Sadly, I think this addon may no longer work starting in Dragonflight. A secure button’s up and down events have to align with the ActionButtonUseKeyDown cvar in 10.x.
I think it’s time to introduce the option to have smart casting. Perhaps @smartcursor
would be sufficient to make it work however the player wants, with the ability to also cancel smart casts through a button (default esc?).
I main DH, which is grounded based spell-heavy. Sigils, infernal strike, Illidan’s Grasp, Metamorphosis… This makes it much harder for me to deal with this for no obvious reason.
