Personally I don’t, but I mainly tank so I know what to look out for, many DPS just hyper focus on their buttons and killing mobs, like those who see one enemy and pop CD’s (that happens WAY too many times) and they don’t look around to see what is happening. Or the DPS who have just straight up admitted they don’t even have party frames up, these types of players will tend to blame the healer without fail.
Had some recently where the DPS would pull ahead in lower level content, die and throw shade at the healer even when the tank was not ready, or dead. I had an argument with someone one day when that exact scenario happened, they didn’t even know someone was dead and the healer was ressing them, yet they ran off and complained after they died.
i see too often that healers are dpsing more than they are healing and that is a problem blizzard has made it to where healers are forced to dps to get good healing output and that causes too much down time healers should have the option to dps when people are full not it be a requirement because of talents unless you are one of the dps healing classes like disc that has to do damage to heal
I think healers are relatively hard to come by because it has been my experience with the class that they can’t really do much on their own. Or that’s my opinion of resto druids at least.
let me list the reasons as one those ever elusive healers:
spiking the damage from unavoidable damage.
dps continually not using kicks and avoidable damages goes out almost assuring someone is dying.
the obvious always blame the healer trump card.
dps not using the surviving abilities
groups not helping with afflicted
etc
tanks overpulling
worse mana management
the only real reason i play a healer is i can get into almost any key i want and if you cross me i have the power to brick your key which is far more damaging then any insult you can throw at me. thats and its a druid patch
You do zero DPS if you’re dead. Using your kicks and defensives might “lower” dps, but when you’re getting chunked for 80% of your health (if not outright one-shot) for every cast that goes off, it’s not going to be a good time if you always try to brute force your way through.
Healers are here to heal you through necessary damage, not make mechanics ignorable.
this so much this. ive actually met people who stand in the bad on purpose with the excuse of “healer can heal me” even if i could that doesint mean i should. why reward bad playing?
Yeah, starting at a pretty low key level dps just die if they play poorly, but usually aren’t aware of this, so low-mid keys are this weird toxic cesspool of dps who can’t find tanks/healers to regularly play with blaming healers for their shortcomings.
Healers are there to deal with unavoidable damage, not “fix” mistakes.
One of the Devs probably got their feelings hurt or got mad at some hunter then went “Oh yeah! well, you know what? I am taking my rage out on the healers because it’s all their fault.” Then came into work and found ways to screw over healers.
because people expect MDI levels of play or they will drop you like a hat. my old group disbanded when they thought i wasint dpsing enough of all things. i dont intentionally avoid dps i just cant dps if yall are dying to avoidable damage.
but one thing i learned from my experince is oh wait im the healer i have the power to brick your key if you piss me off which is pretty hard to do. im a chill guy 99% of the time because i have time to play.
actually, devs rarely have ANY input into these things. Devs in general are given projects to work on, specifications on how it needs to be done. Twenty year ago, perhaps the devs made these decisions but I doubt they’re involved in this at all.
All these decisions are made by whatever they call their product management team.
On the other hand, bugs were created by devs. Not hard to do. Anyone who tells you they write perfect code is smoking crack.
And that is definitely how we used to do it, old school. It’s how I learned. If someone is standing in bad, can’t avoid fire, insists on not los’ing? Let them die.
Then let them die when they do it again. If they kvetch? /ignore
my thoughts as well and if they are ***holes about it i really dont mind bricking a key. takes me tops 10 mins to find another while its gonna take that crying dps an hour or more
