"In Legion, as soon as you zone into a PvP instance, the stats on your gear will be nullified, and you’ll be given a pre-determined set of stats that’s uniquely configured for your specialization. Furthermore, any set bonuses, enchants, Legendary bonuses, or trinket effects will be deactivated (although your Artifact and its related Artifact Powers will remain active).
The only contribution your gear will make to your overall power is through a small modifier based on your average item level. For every point that your average item level increases, your pre-determined PvP stats will increase by 0.1%. That means a 25 item level difference between two players only results in a 2.5% difference in stats, compared to the 25% difference it makes today. There’s still a little incentive to improve your gear – a concept we think is important for World of Warcraft – but the benefits are much less pronounced.
These changes bring a couple of major advantages. First of all, it puts everyone participating in organized PvP on a much more even playing field. Obviously, you’ll still want to unlock your Honor Talents to reach your full potential, but you’ll be able to hold your own in battle in the meantime.
Second, it allows us infinitely more control to make PvP-specific balance tweaks. If one spec’s Mastery is too strong in PvP, that’s fine – we can just reduce the amount of Mastery they have. If a spec is too easy to kill, we can increase their Stamina. If a healer is having too much trouble keeping teammates alive, we can increase their Spellpower. In short, we can tune classes for PvP in a way that’s exclusively focused on PvP."
Please. Just give us Legion balancing again. Give me the ability to play numerous alts without being at such a massive disadvantage. Disable Tier sets. Disable Legendaries. Stop the one shots. This isn’t fun for anyone.
You guys had it right once before. Gear has no place in competitive PvP. It never has.
Please Blizzard. I beg of you. I love this game more than anything in this whole world. I want PvP to be what it used to be. Enough is enough.

I noticed you haven’t queued any games this season. Your input is invalidated

Yeah no.
Only way it’d be good is if stats were customizable.

Yes but thats because I’m across the country, in the hospital, recovering from a potentially career ending injury.
Sorry?

“Customizable” stat is just the illusion of choice. You’ll never find a ret that puts their stats in anything but Vers/Mast for example.
I’m fine with that. I just don’t want to get sepsis for 55000. Or Demonbolted for 75000.
Stat templates aren’t to blame for this. Stupid modifiers are.

You won’t find a Ret period outside of Cupid. Queue up some 3s into mage lock and after you are dying rotting behind the pillar for 4 minutes straight and lose on mana come back and you will understand this post.
No I won’t. Because stat templates aren’t the reason for these issues. Poor design is.
Stat templates with “customizable stats” would arguably just make the current situation worse since everyone would be guaranteed their perfect, maximized offensive stats on top of stupid modifiers and legendaries.

Modifiers from legendaries that should be disabled in rated arena. The templates are for BLIZZARD to use so it is easier for them. Because apparently it is too difficult.
Against it!
I am not against the idea of equalized stats, but I am against stat templates. Give people the chance to play the spec how they want it to be played, not how the devs think it should be played.
When you play a burst comp, a stat template that is based more on rot damage is terrible and vice versa. It also can feel awkward when there is no clear flow in your rotation, so maybe you want to drop some crit and get more haste, to have more fun playing your character.
That was the major issue of Legion: You were doomed to the stats other people decided for you. Some classes had good templates, others had terrible templates. So instead of pre-determined set of stats, give people the chance to “reforge” their stat template to some degree.
Or let the stats be scaled on an equalized item level, based on the stats you are wearing. Everyone has the same ilvl then, but you can still decide what kind of stat template you want to play with.

i’m a firm believer that most people that want “customization” just look at the top 10 of their spec on ladder and copy them
i almost NEVER see people doing some kind of weird “build” and honestly stats are mostly an illusion
templates lowering the barrier to entry does SO much for participation imo
nobody cares if you wear 3 pces of mastery gear and it makes one of your spells do .5% more damage overall

I’m fine with the idea of having redistributable secondary stats. As long as there’s no broken legendaries and tier set bonuses. Oh, and soulbinds.

Trust me, if mastery was actually decent for SV, I’d run more mastery instead of none
agreed, templates are a bad idea, the solution is to play with homogenized ilvl, so you get to keep stat priority as you wish but with the ilvl of pvp encounters

Dude are you trolling? Top rets are stacking haste now. Actual play testing if you were queuing would show you haste mastery and even crit are all viable.
Like, why do you post things that are easily and verifiably false.
The most important takeaway.
Good to see you again Chav/Ambi. Sorry for upsetting you so much the other day, but changing characters to post on does you no good when some posters have the Arena Forum Sharingan and know who you are no matter how hard you try to hide.
Good to see that the whole point of the post went so far over your head it’s now subject to a DOD Aerospace Phenomena investigation.
Crit is rendered useless by the simple fact that you have perma wings already so its 20% crit by itself, and then 2set gives you another 8% crit passively.
And then mastery vs haste is kinda what playstyle you opt to. NA is mostly mastery main, but they are starting to shift towards haste now and EU Rets are haste. Big spike of dam vs sustained dam.
