Follower dungeons was a terrific idea. No toxicity, no man children yelling at you for not pulling fast enough, no getting kicked for not DPSing like it’s a mythic+20. Wonderful! Now, we need followers in the open world. I just did a Time Rift, and there was not one other person around me. illidan horde, for reference, the #1 server by pop in the USA… and not one person.
We DESPERATELY need followers in the open world. This game is so dead.
Maybe we could deputise our alts? We pick an alt as a follower when logging in and the alt will run on an AI similar or identical to the ones used in the follower dungeons. For simplicity in programming, they could use a default talent spec so they may use talented skills they do not have when played directly. As such, if your hunter is a beastmaster then as a follower that character will use a default beastmaster talent setup. It would also summon your actual pets.
Sadly, by the time I could spare any of them from doing missions I out-leveled the place. And their AI is such that they will do NOTHING until you attack something. Not good if you are a level 70 and one shot everything. Not that they were needed but it was kind of fun to have them around.
