We need Death Appeals

I do think something needs to be done about DC deaths.

Unlike other deaths you cannot outplay a disconnect. There is no human error involved, you cannot feign death or frost nova etc and run hope/run for safety… If you DC and there are enemies around you are just going to die and there is nothing you can do about it.

I guess the concern would be people finding ways to purposefully lag themselves so they can appeal their deaths if they think they’re about to die. But should we really make a miserable experience because of that?

Are you defending DC deaths?

I’m saying I don’t care about your DC deaths. Who knows though; maybe they’ll make a system where you can logout to prevent yourself from dying, like you can in D2 LoD…

Losing to DC sucks, but I still think having a blanket rule of dying = done with no grey area is better for the game overall.

No questions, no trying to get a GM to feel bad for you, no controversial revivals, nothing.

Dead = done

Simple

You can still play on BB with the addon, and appeal.

team up with other players. This isn’t meant to go solo (still you can do it if you want)

Lord love ya’.

Would a hug help, friend?

Death by DC should not count. Yes, I know some people will abuse it, but you have no idea how bad it feels to lose a character through absolutely no fault of your own.

And to the people who say “Oh, just get better internet!”, some of us don’t have that option. I, for example, have been stuck with a terrible ISP for over 10 years because there’s just no other option beside dial-up in my area.

We need an appeal already? It’s been less than a week.

kiss me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure they have a disclaimer for the HC realms right? saying that there are no appeals, if you die, you die?

Just because that contract is there and your forced to sign it to even play HC does it mean that it’s something that doesn’t need changed or monitored. It’s just lazy blizzard expunging themselves from having to do any work because of DC deaths.

Nope, they stated it from the beginning that there will be no system for appeals, that this is the game mode people like, and have been using before the official HC realms. If they don’t like it, then they don’t have to play it :man_shrugging:

And I’m not going to play it because I don’t like it. I lost a lv 20 to DC and that’s it im done. Many others will leave HC because of the same BS.

I truly don’t understand how DC deaths can’t be appealed. Everything else is whatever but DC deaths are bull. Advocating for a bad system to be correct and letting Blizzard get off the hook because they are too lazy to monitor their game in the slightest is just strange to me. Especially since you are a fellow consumer.

Because any time you are in danger, pull your ethernet cord and get a dc appeal.

This is a case by case scenario that would require a human behind a computer aka GM to study and come to a conclusion about. What if I have my game being recorded and can prove that my death was out of my control?

That’s the name of the game dude, sorry that it happened but that’s just how the dice rolls sometimes. Just got to start over and try again. idk what to tell you lol. Maybe they will take DC deaths into consideration later but as of right now, just gotta keep rollin’ with the punches.

too many people can complain DC deaths and flood Blizzard with false accounts “oh i had .0004 seconds of feather falling left and jumped off the elevator…but my internet gave out >.>”

Can of worms.

I am not going to roll with the punch on this one. Sorry, ain’t happening for me.

But how does Blizzard know that?

“Oh no, I pulled too many mobs. I hope I don’t disconnect!”
pulls out Cat-6 cable
“Waah! Restore my character, Blizzard, because I disconnected in the middle of a fight!!”

Disconnects are a part of any online game. They may not be your fault, but they aren’t necessarily Blizzard’s either–and I do not think Blizzard should waste time investigating every report of a disconnect death to try to figure out why a disconnect happened to see if a character should be restored. Accept it, move on, and either transfer or start again.
