Just look at the posts in this forum. There are at least half a dozen posts of people asking this question and in every thread people are responding confidently with conflicting information.
Questions:
- Can a dead char from HC fresh transfer to the fresh PvE realm?
- Can a dead char from HC fresh transfer to the fresh PvP realm?
I’m really hoping the latter is possible… Hardcore is my favorite mode, followed by PvP, and then PvE is waaaaaay third. If it isn’t possible to xfer to PvP I’ll need to skip Hardcore altogether

Good questions; my guess: A dead HC character on current realms can transfer to current PVE era realms. Dead HC fresh characters will likely be able to transfer to fresh classic PVE servers. I can’t imagine they would allow a character to be leveled up on a PVE server (even HC), then transfer to PVP - you need to have leveled as PVP to be on a PVP server.
In the documentation they provided, they will be able to transfer to the Fresh PvE server, not the Fresh PvP server, this mirrors how servers normally work where PvE servers were not able to transfer to a PvP server, keeping the PvP integrity where people are required to level on a PvP server, and while HC has its own challenges they are not the same as leveling in a PvP environment. This was only removed on the ERA servers due to the lack of population, and there were no comments about if they could transfer to the non Fresh servers, but this can be tested after launch.
Even if they can’t transfer to the current ERA servers initially, at some point they will be able to in the future once the fresh servers transition to TBC since HC isn’t. So if you’re ok with waiting a year, like on Defias it should be possible to transfer to Whitemane off the Fresh HC server at some point.
