Let Stormwind burn. Down with the hereditary monarchy. Stick it to the man.

I feel you man. I hated when that happen when I was Alliance.

I vote we found the first official Guillotine Party of Stormwind.

Also, once we oust the SW monarchy the rest of Azeroth’s monarchies will have to burn SW to the ground to install some slug to ‘restore order’.

So the Zandalari and the Gnomes then. I know, it came as a surprise to me too but thinking about it only Humanity, Zandalari, and Gnomes have functioning Monarchies.

…Worgen too, I guess. Though is it really a Monarchy if they lack any actual land?

Kul’Tirans kind of have a Monarchy but kind of don’t at the same time. The High Admiral position is equally hereditary and elective so I’m not sure what to qualify them as. An Authoritarian Oligarchy, maybe? Where supreme power is shared between a limited number of noble houses?

Blood Elves - Authoritarian Dictator
Orcs - Tribal Representation based on progenitor Clan
Tauren - Tribal Representation based on progenitor Clan
Pandaren - Tribal Representation based on Community
Darkspear Trolls - ??? (Seriously do we have any idea who is steering that wheel now that Vol’jin’s gone?)
Goblins - Corporate Oligarchy
Forsaken - A Soviet Council, formerly Authoritarian Dictator
Nightborne - A Magical Oligarchy/Drug Cartel
Vulpera - Roma
Dwarves - A mixed Hereditary and Elected Parliamentary System
Night Elves - A Theocratic Junta
Void Elves - A Cult
Draenei - A Theocratic Dictatorship

I swear I saw somewhere in game where Rokhan has the Darkspear Chieftain title now.

Edit: According to WoWpedia he is indeed Chieftain now. You would think this would be a bigger deal.

It’s…it’s because he’s the only other named Darkspear character we’ve interacted with since the Starting Zones, isn’t it?

I mean, Zuni (or whatever his name was) got ganked by the sea witch so there’s not much else there aside from the darkspear druid npc.

TFW you realize Void Elves, Mechagnomes, Nightborne, Zandalari, and Vulpera have more named narrative characters than the Darkspear.

Well I mean Vulpera have Dollie and that’s just cheating honestly.

The main issue is that if we did something akin to the monarchies thing Blizz would start doing absurd things like pulling out “Oh, well… uuh, X group was also actually a monarchy” and it would be someone absurd like the Night Elves who probably aren’t keen on monarchs after their last one blew up Pangea.

“Welcome to Cataclysm 2: The Second One. We’ve heard your complaints that we use hereditary monarchy too much, so in response, the new human kingdom this expansion runs on a tanistry elective. No, we will not be explaining to you how that works.”

Jokes on you, I’ve played CK2 and Tanistry Elective is THE BEST!

Other than gnomes, is there a non authoritarian playable race government?

He HAS A NAME. ZEN’KIKI! :sob:

didn’t they (blizzard) mess it up in the mechagnome recruitment scenario and forgot about the whole elected leader thing and made mekkatorque king of the gnomes? so they’re now also an authoritarian government too?

It seems like he was called “King of Gnomes” before that, so it’s unclear to me if he’s an elected “king” or if Blizzard had already forgotten he was elected.

The Mechagnome recruitment scenario doesn’t say if the regular Gnomes elected him or not, if I remember correctly. It just shows the Mechagnomes deciding that he can be their king, too, for whatever reason.
