We need an answer on why it is taking so long for character restorations to be allowed again. This is insanity that we were told it would be a couple of weeks until it was back up and that was 2 months ago. I myself and many other people unfortunately either accidentally deleted our characters when meaning to select another character or due to the new character warband screen bug, selected the correct character to delete and then still ended up unfortunately deleting a character we did not mean to part ways with… Give us a straight up answer for once so we can decide if we need to start leveling another character to replace the ones lost and unable to be recovered in a timely fashion.
It likely doesn’t work with the new merged realms. They added a really rough work around on the bones of a client that was never intended to function the way it currently is. It is kind of amazing it works as well as it does on wow’s engine.
Its just so frustrating to see that especially in my case I had the correct character selected to delete and instead of selecting that character it selected the one I was previously logged in on instead. I was streaming at the time this happened and was able to play back the clip and see that I did everything correctly and should have not lost my main in the process. They should allow atleast 1 character restoration in this downtime of the service per account just incase mistakes happen. It would help people greatly
Had that happen to me too, clicked the character I wanted to delete, didn’t register for some reason and went on with deleting without noticing the click didn’t register, but thankfully the restore option was up at the time. We all make random mistakes, the community deserves an answer on what’s taking so long with the restore feature still being down.
I don’t know, I think they can take their time. In my day there wasn’t even a such thing as character restoration. If you deleted a character it was gone goodbye never see it again. We learned to be cautious and not delete characters unless we was certain. A trait that people could probably still use these days. This is more of a patience issue imho, yeah I understand its frustrating and it sucks. But also, they don’t really have to have that option. /shrugs. Good luck to you though.

So one thing i’d like to make a note of here. In response to what you typed:
-I did not know about this “bug” until It happened to me. Where even if you confirm the character you wish to delete it can choose the character you were previously logged into instead without warning or confirmation that you are in fact deleting that character.

I do not feel unsympathetic I apologize if I came across as such. That was not my intention, I recognize caution only goes so far which is why eventually they did make a ticket system to allow for help in online games. But the fact the system exists for it to be down should be appreciated. It’s not something they have to do by any means. I am sorry that your having a bad experience though truly I am.
Yes multiple. I was responded to within 3 hours by the AI generated message and then later by a GM with the same answer that they cannot restore characters and they are still waiting on a solution. I think that made me the most upset because not only was mine not an accident it was purely a bug that has been happening since the change of the character selection screen to warbands.
-and what really stings, is the fact that I play one character… all my gold was on that character. I made a level one toon with the intention of possibly playing a second when bored but after realizing it was a waste of time to me I simply logged out and deleted it and here I am now…

It’s likely they are unable to give a solid answer. bugs can sometimes be complicated to find. I can assure you the devs are not maliciously hiding this detail from the playerbase that would just be bad business. The most likely scenario here is the bug is complicated and or difficult to find and so no timeline can really be given. They can give estimations like they did, but those can be wrong and often times are.
As for why they can’t restore you manually, they used to do that and it got abused either intentionally or by error. A player ended up with an item that can instant kill anything. Item intended for dev testing, you can imagine how that went. Wasn’t long after that they made the automated system and stopped manually doing it. GMs simply don’t have the permissions to help there its over their pay grade.
There’s a bug going on where you select the correct character, the confirmation box has the correct character… and then the game deletes someone entirely different.
It’s because remix toons when they’re turned into retail chars are actually being deleted and replaced by a boost with the same appearance. Thus our deleted remix characters are actually sitting in the character restore menu and they don’t want us toi access them.
