Ive got a fix for the mail class problem without adding tinkers. Change shaman and hunters to use leather. As for weapons, give demon hunters a mobile ranged spec for their third spec that uses a crossbow.
I actually personally agree that we do need a new ranged DPS class, I’ve been waiting for a new ranged for awhile and feel like the best option is to open up more specs for the current classes and flesh out the current specs.
However, some of my guildies and I even came up with a ‘hero class’ per say in the form of a Dragon Aspect class which would be slightly similar to Druids but have their own unique-ness to everything. Especially since there’s tons of Dragon Aspect speculation for next expac.
I would love to see classes get extra specs, but at the same time, I would like to see classes just open up in general so that specs are exactly what they used to be, specializations. Because as it stands, we have 36 different classes with the way all of the different specs play. There are only really a few abilities that are shared across different specs for a class. The only frost spell that fire and arcane mages have are frost nova, but they all have blink and timewarp.
I miss having ghouls and army of the dead as a blood dk, I miss stance dancing as a warrior, I miss JoaT as a druid.
I think a large reason it’s harder for new classes to open up because a lot of the current classes we now have fill a lot of the ‘themes’ for a lot of the RPG element classes that were introduced into WoW. At least in some form or another when you think about it. But I never turn down the opportunity to have a new class handed to me . It’s also part of the reason why me and my guildies came up with the dragon aspect ‘hero class’ which would respectively be similar to druid in that it can do every role from healing, R-Dps, M-Dps, and tank .
Another problem I think when it comes to adding a new class however, is that it creates more issues in regards to balancing. Something that - in my own opinion - I feel Blizzard hasn’t really been the best at doing lately, so adding on another class would bring in more. However, same could be said for specs .
For example, a spec I’d like to see from perhaps mages would be a Blood Mage of sorts, or even DKs having a not tank Blood role that could be healing or dpsing.
Been hitting the MM hunter more of late. realizing why I lean so much on BM with another hunter or 2 I have.
It was the rock dude to get my first essence (alts been sitting a bit lol). With all his AOE if I stand still for aimed shot…life gets painful. So its strafe and kite around doing crap DPS on lesser abilities the whole time since I can’t really use my money maker aimed shot.
I had the heart levels to help the green dragons too. And…the void boss in the lake was the same thing. those void bubbles hurt you. Bad. Aimed shot was missed.
then I recalled I did this with BM hunter. Why was this so much easier I asked myself. Oh…that’s right. Why the bosses were casting this crap my way they were letting my pet beat the crap out of them. And I have a few options to shoot while I strafe/kite.
Leather support for hunters would be nice. I have one of the few appealing, to me and some others…I googled good mail mogs and this 1 came up (a lot). Now leather wise, I could change out outfits way more as I have so many good options there.
I would love to see a blood mage/priest, and I feel that it could be a pretty decent tank, healer, and dps when paired with a necromancer spec.
But the most limiting thing I think is the fact that if you want the necromancer theme, you are either playing an unholy dk, or a demonology warlock. If the class system was more akin to that of elder scrolls where you had so many points but you could spend them just about anywhere, we could have any “class” or “spec” that we wanted. We could have our necromancers, our tinkers, our blood mages, our liches, our gladiators, and anything else we could think of.
But what limits class and spec balancing the most is blizzards participation in esports. We cant have good, hard core fantasy abilities that break balance for pvp tournaments.
they can also achieve this by giving monks a magical/chi archer spec too as a forth spec. additionally either a bard or ninja spec for rogues. 4th specs for a lot of classes seems like a great creative way for things to progress to.
despite the fact that a tinker would make a great fit for mail wearer/ranged weapon using/ tank-ranged dps-healer, if blizz wanted to not do an entire new class, they could give tinker as a 4th spec to hunters. i personally believe tinker makes the most sense for the new class as its an archetype that isnt in the game. and with creativity it could potentially be an amazing class with really awesome visuals.
but then again id also love for a create a class system like in RIFT. or heavy customisation like from GW2. or prestige classes that cut off the spec portion of our current classes. or anything even more creative.
Despite the name they’re not really edgy or evil. Most In game Shadow Hunters wear mail and a bow using spec would fit. They could also easily (if needed) have healer and/or tank spec. They could also open up the glaive weapon type to a new class.
They better raise the cap on toons if they add another class. When I’m done leveling the 8.3 races and the 2 more that seem to be coming after (2 more allied race slots). I will only have room for 1 more. It will have to be horde but, that will leave my alliance realm short one.
We’ll get super hunters. They’re similar to normal hunters except they can use every weapon and their natural presence pulls everything within 100 yards. And we’ll give them some more warlock abilities too just because. Locks don’t need them.
That should’ve been the hero class for this expansion. Fits a need in the class roster, fits the theme. Bingo bango, it’s perfect. But it would actually take effort to design, balance, and implement, and I think we know where blorz stands on making an effort.
