20 years later, only hunters have access to ranged weapons. I was playing marvel rivals and the character star lord dual wields pistol. You can definitely make something like that in WoW. Dashing around and maybeeee free flying(priests can fly in the air, the door has been opened). He’s insanely fun and it’s a play style I’ve been really wanting in WoW.
I want full free flying for a movement ability. Like for sure you can be wearing a jetpack around. This is assuming tinker comes out and one of the specs ends up being a gunner.
Either rogues get this dual pistol class or they give us artificers and make it a spec for them alongside summoning titan tech turrets and throwing grenades. I’d love to see pistols become a weapon type in WoW as it’s weird that’s not a thing yet. I mean what a goblin or gnome never managed to make a smaller hand held gun before? Goblins for dang sure should of as they love things that explode or the like yet they’re more focused on rifles than handheld guns they could hide easier than a rifle?
Not even remotely plausible in WoW, for it is a MMO - not a fast paced FPS. This is the same logic folks were saying when Tracer came out with Overwatch where folks were making the suggestions of adding effectively Tracer to WoW.
Not many suggested it because folks understood it wasn’t a good idea.
In regards to adding a class built around the theme of a gunslinger… You are kinda stuck. Because you also need to make it work with a Bow and Crossbow, have the abilities make sense, feel thematically accurate, animations that work, and all of this need to have an overlying class-structure that makes sense with 3 specializations that in turn also makes sense.
And all of this whilst avoiding being a hunter. It is possible to make it work, but you ain’t going to end up with a “gunslinger” from the stuff that works with these criteria in mind. If you want to get somewhere when designing something, a good idea is to start nearly anywhere else but the name of the thing. Because if you are trying to make your design fit a VERY narrow definition based on a word/name, you are stuck in a one-track mindset where you are then trying to crowbar in a justification for its existence.
“Gunslinger” doesn’t make sense in WoW as a class and as a specialization, you’d have to make it make sense with a bow, crossbow, and gun all at the same time as it not being a marksman (since that already exists with hunters).
Can you just go play Ratchet and Clank instead of polluting WoW with this stuff? Every suggestion I’ve heard for a gunslinger class is “It’s a gun user and they shoot stuff.” We already have Hunters. To be frank adding any firearms beyond black powder weapons/ship cannons is pushing it thematically, save for cases where the gun is enhanced by magic. I don’t understand why so many people want to shoehorn Call of Duty into fantasy games.
No you don’t… And yeah it can’t be its own class cause there isn’t much to go with besides one spec, which is why it would make sense for a tinker or whoever focuses more technology vs your own magic.
Also, I’m talking about the dual pistols and just the general mobile and fast playstyle. I’m not asking to tracer blink every 2 seconds… but someone that is naturally mobile and has fast paced combat…
Bows can stay a hunter thing… guns are more general and you see them all over the place in undermine.
In WoW, these two are the exact same thing, as well as crossbows. You quite literally cannot make a class or specialization use one particular type of ranged weapon (such as a gun) without it using the other two as well, because there’s no other class than hunters that have ranged physical weapons.
What you are asking for is essentially on par with asking for demon hunters to only be able to use warglaives, as opposed to all the other types of weapons that they can use. It’d be beyond belief limiting and make the entire class forever more dictate what loot is even allowed to exist in the game anymore.
You quite literally have to make it useable with bows and crossbows if your primary weapon is a “gun” (if this helps you, don’t read it as ‘gun’ but “ranged weapon” … which is why “Ranged Weapon-Slinger” is a kinda silly name as well, on top of all the other issues I already mentioned in the other reply).
This is what I was talking about being stuck on a single track and unable to think creatively about what a class could be.
This is an open forum where everyone spams the same few thing over and over again. It is possible to do more with basic ideas, and thus some tries to steer it towards what would be a more sensible location. Saying “We need X” when we don’t is just poor taste, not being able to handle critique or feedback, and then folks just go “but you can go - this is my idea, I suggested it, my thread.”
We don’t have to get stuck on gunslinger. They dual wield pistols. They make it work with magic. Call them spellslinger. Main stat Intelligence. Put intelligence on just the pistols. There, now we don’t have to worry about the rifle, crossbow, bow aspect of building the class
Hmmm, though seeing them dual wield rifles would be awesome, and they’d have to make Dez and Troy
