We need a "Ask the Devs" section in the forums

Like the title says, we need this to be a forum section. Why? Cause it would be a good way for the player base to ask questions directly to Ion or the other devs and have them answer when they can. Yeah, yeah, blue posters answer questions, but they’re not Ion or actual devs. They’re pretty much HR. Like the q&a pannel at blizzcon, but better.

However, Devs can still ignore Bellular as usual cause that’s hilarious.

I can already picture how it would be.

Ask Ion: Hey, could we get less timegating?
Ion: Sure, we’re actually super in tune with player feedback and promise to stop timegating so much
Literally 1 week later
Ion: So here’s some new content with timegating! YAY!

Basically what’s to stop him/them from telling us what they’ve been telling us via interviews and just doing the opposite anyway?

I’m sure a level 10 DK toon named Ion from the guild < totally legit the real Ion > wouldn’t show up just to make that even more entertaining.

Or “The Ghost of Afrasiabi”

Considering this exact scenario played out recently I can believe it.

No, it would be a lvl 55 classic dk in the guild, elitist jorks.

Yes, put it in the trust level 3 lounge.

Remember back when they did those developer Q&A livestreams?

It’d be great if we had something along those lines again.

They’re community managers. They are given the info that they’re authorized to post from he devs.

We’ve also had a few devs post here on rare occasions. Last expansion, the dynamic flying dev posted here to let people know they’ll be working on more accessibility for dynamic flying over time.

And unless someone strictly monitored said new forum 24/7, it would never work out well.

That’s what the most recent webcast was.

The Devs used to post on the forums.

There’s a reason why they stopped.

Once a dev posts something, anything, the thread devolves into a billion people asking further questions, demanding answers, aggressive criticism, namecalling and/or, worse of all, demanding that their ideas be implemented.

All at once.

Gaming communities tend to be quite aggressive in the pursuit of their desires, so the Devs of successful games tend to prefer a certain degree of separation from the fans, for the sake of their mental health.

Unless that forum was locked behind trust level 3 and heavily moderated I’d expect it to be full of posts along the lines of “hey devs why do you suck at your jobs and make terrible content?”.

Frankly even with those conditions I wouldn’t have high hopes for it. There’s a reason blue posts became significantly less frequent ages ago.

No offense meant, my VHO is that we need such a section like we need another hole in our head.

They already do that on twitter, and twitter is a lot worse than here, tbh. Have you seen the Anshe cultists? Wrathuin wishers? Romance option people(tbf, i kinda want this)? Bellular himself? Blizzard devs gets non-stop hate there. Here, at least, it can be heavily moderated.

This would be fine. Make it genuine people who have genuine questions with no ill intent.

Bahahaha.

That would mean they’d have to care enough to take responsibility for when they stuff up.

They’re never going to do that.

They haven’t posted on here in forever. They know this forum is crazy.

Won’t be a lot of reason to agree to this.

Folks like Ard are absolutely desperate for material to use. No reason to give gamers material to use against the studio.

I’ve seen a few developer posts in the Ptr forum looking for feedback. last time I saw any was on the Cooldown Manager.

Maybe that’s why players seem to like dumping their wish lists there and complaining directly at the devs like disappointed parents.

All the more reason not to interact directly with us.

Try Palia.

I mean yeah… I’m here.

Don’t even need a forum for open communication. Just getting someone to post once a day, just a sentence or two, to clarify some of the bigger issues or questions would be a 1000% improvement.

Remember when people flipped out over Gift of the Titans being missing? A simple “it’s scheduled to unlock next week” would have defused that on the spot.
