Yes i bet millions. I think ffxiv will be in content drought so 12 mil to draw from. Layering will save the first month since alot will go back to retail, eso and ffxiv.
250k signatures say differently based on the Nostalrius change petition.
Iâm scrolling through the supporter comments right now on that petition:

Duplicates donât reflect reality.
Do you not? LOL⊠you donât know anymore than anyone else.
Yep, youâll prove that Blizzard was right, and that you really thought you did, but you didnât.
The drums of war thunder once againâŠ
Very true. Still, I think it will be very successful. I do not see any way it will be less than 500k. r/classicwow reddit alone stands at 150k+, and if you read part of the petition
For roughly one year, it was an amazing journey for all of us, and for the 800,000 players who registered an account, including the 150,000 players who were active.
150k alone active on one private server in a single year.
I sincerely believe thereâs going to be a large amount of players - at first. A lot of people wonât stay over a long period of time due to the subscription cost, unless Blizzard lowers the cost and makes a sub just for Classic itself.
Do agree it was a very casual MMO when it was released, and not as difficult as some others I played. Asheronâs call PvP server was crazy long ago.
I estimate 1 million will return and then after 3 months, I estimate like 200,000 active players, but that amount is enough for very active realms and very big communities.
I say 3 million at launch. 1.5 million after 6 months. Then a spike when bgs are released.
Ive been playing swtor to pass the time waiting for classic. Even that game players are coming back to it.
I have no doubt Classic will draw at least a few million players. There will be a decline afterward⊠but that remains to be seen as to how much of a drop.
People are greatly underestimating how alluring starting WoW from the beginning is. A completely new Azeroth, brand new economy⊠every single player logging in on a level 1 character, Not even a level 5 in sight.
Then the true feeling of progression and accomplishment⊠something not felt in modern WoW for a LONG time.
Iâm willing to bet that there are a million people right now saying âNah, not interestedâ that com a week before launch will suddenly âget itâ⊠and get bit by excitement.
Vanilla was made for Casuals.
Not even close. Iâd say at least 3 mil will return and at least 1 mil will stay. Thatâs just out of those who are not and have not played retail in years.
Vanilla was made for those with patience, not those whoâs patience levels depend on the levels of Ritalin in their body.
It was also made for casuals.
Thatâs what the game was originally was hailed as: The casualâs MMO. The game you could log in for an hour and feel like you made actual progress on your character.
People on Everquest used to claim WoW would never make it as a MMO because it was âtoo casualâ.
Compared to its peer MMOâs, Blizzard designed Vanilla for ritalin babies.
I have never had to go play another game while waiting for my health to regenerate without a Priest, in WoW.
Itâs not Vanillaâs fault that the world kept stockpiling ritalin at that point.
#LeaveVanillaAlone!
Sure. Except that the term casual from the time of EQ and the term casual in the current state of gaming and WOW specifically are completely different things.
Wrath wasnât even the best expansion.
To each their own. I donât think much of Wrath. It was when the game really started down the convenience path. Mass homogenization. I put Vanilla miles ahead of anything that came after it. TBC was good. Wrath was okay. The game was garbage ever since.
Maybe thousands, not millions. Classic is good an all, but itâs no wrath.
Yeah calm down guys itâs not like classic had millions playing at the time⊠imo there may be hundreds if weâre lucky. Most likely dozens tho.

Except the word means exactly the same as it did then. Changing meanings of words now are we? lol
