I started playing WOW because it’s a massive epic RPG with a very long progression system that rewards one slowly over time. A game that ends, really when you want it to. If you set enough goals, it could practically take a decade.
Or at least that was the case.
First of all – a majority of games these days, RPG or not, use some type of “leveling” system that numerically ranges from 1-100 (Typically 1-30-50). I liked that WOW offered 120 levels, and that it took some time.
It’s about the journey not the destination.
A.) They ALREADY allow one to buy a maxed character who comes with level 400+ items.
B.) It definitely has a pay to win option as one can purchase a million gold for 180-200$.
C.) They have heirlooms that can increase leveling speed by 30%.
D.) They have buffs and have had a buff that doubles XP and Rep for months.
Isn’t this enough for the ‘I’m not becoming powerful enough fast enough groupies?’

My items aren’t selling as well as they once did on the AH. I craft for all expansions under several professions. I noticed a big slowdown in sales since double XP. Yet the population is higher. I imagine people aren’t buying for the same reason I don’t buy – you’ll out-level the gear before it’s worth paying for it.

I over-level for any expansion by the time I finish ONE zone (with 5-7 zones to choose from). I entered Stormsong Valley in BFA as a 110 Demon Hunter. I hit 120 before i finished the last 10% of the zone.
This is stupid.
I like that they will let players now choose to go to any expansion they wish from a low level.
I think a level squish could work, but would be much better at 90-100 rather than to 60.
Increasing leveling speed by 70% (all the time) is just lunacy.
What’s the point of leveling at all.
Let’s just make a vendor in each city where you can click a button for “x” gold and be a geared 120 instantly.
Oh wait, they already have that. It’s 60$, or right now, about 330,000 gold at current market rate.
I’m a big-time Blizzard fanboy. Say what you want about their pricing models, methods or internal politics. Blizzard has made the highest quality – most finely tuned games in history the past quarter century.
However, I think this new, “2nd Cataclysm” is going to turn off hardcore players like me.
I want being max level to mean something.
Also, maxing out professions hardly pays.
In fact, I see people listing things they clearly don’t want to make a profit off of for 1/10th my price. They must be crafting just to skill up and lose money.
I “love” this game, and I don’t want to be one of those guys who is like, “the next patch will ruin the game.”
But the next patch will … make the game less fun – for me.
I’m not a new age 18 year old with a shorter attention span than a cat. I don’t mind spending 2-4 weeks maxing my level and abilities per alt.
Fallout 3-4, Vegas, Oblivion, Skyrim take about a month. I think that’s a good standard.
Opinions?
