"We know frost death knights are currently on our radar as underperforming..."

i just want to know what criteria blizz used when nerfing obliterate by 20% the other week.

there were like 2 dks on ladder playing it? xeek and toxicant?

and then now with the frost fever nerf. We know from beta(when they nerfed frost fever by like 200%) that they able to make spec specific changes to frost fever, so why didn’t they do it here?

Frost is honestly a D tier spec rn, I do more burst dmg, more sustain dmg, am tankier, am less kiteable/peelable, as unholy dk so the frost changes dating from beta to now make 0 sense.

I agree as a fellow Frost DK PvPer on the absolute struggle bus. I thought it strange when they nerfed Icy Death Torrent across the board when it didn’t need it in PvP (a main focus to my build). They seriously need to watch their inconsistencies with nerfing things when they have the power to tune separately.

“We know frost death knights are currently on our radar as underperforming”

Is this a current statement? If so can you link the source?

Yeah I hated that change too. It was something that would help Frost DK not be so dependent on Pillar windows and useless outside of it then they nerfed it in PvP to make sustain builds even more unattractive.

It really looked like they were trying to shore up its CD window downtime, but they undermine it at every turn of late. I hope they can visit it again here soon and aid its sustain damage. That’s my goal with it. I’m a Deathbringer fan too which doesn’t help me any, however, I think they’re headed in the right direction come next patch. At least the FF change.

nah its just that the current tuning decisions is giving me flashbacks to when blizz said this and proceeded to nerf frost dk anyways.

i believe this was in dflight

Because you arent Breast Fed like fury. Thats why.

you cant play warlock :sob:

Your 3v3 record clearly shows you cant play the number 2 most played class/spec in season 1 right now. Go look at this idiots armory folks. Then point, and laugh.

What did they mean by this

A spec as a whole can be underperforming and have an overtuned ability. Not sure whats hard to understand there.

Just like if enhance shaman had 1-2 buttons that were WAY stronger it would still be a BS spec.

youre fuming rn loser :skull:

Everytime this priest posts it’s to complain, usually warrior this warrior that. Just wild for them to be talking about records with 0 1550 chieves in literally any bracket as well.

obliterate was hitting for like 600k tops in ur biggest burst window

Who are you quoting in your OP?
Do you have a source for that?

Because it was overperforming in pve! Unholy was #1 and frost was like #3-4 in single target and any time you added a 2nd add or a group frost was #1 by a large margin.

it was a pvp only change to obliterate, and i explained what i mean by the quote a few posts up, here is the link to the original meme Class Tuning Incoming – May 16

  • Frost
    • Pillar of Frost now increases Strength by 15% in PvP Combat (was 25%).
    • Developers’ notes: Frost Death Knights have been on our radar as underperforming, but still effective in the right situations. We’re reducing their burst damage alongside their game-wide damage increases with the goal of a healthier overall damage profile.

the tuning philosiphy here is "we know frost is bad, but since it’s good in dev dk we’re going to make sure its not good in dev dk so it is equally bad in all comps thumbs up

The sad thing is that while other people were getting excited about deathbringer before TWW, including my friend who wanted me to play frost in 3s, I was completely certain unholy would be the best spec anyway.

Why? Because Blizzard wants it to be. Same reason frost mage is always the spec. Same reason arms war is always the spec.

If something comes out that bucks those trends, they’ll adjust them into oblivion to force people off fury/frost/arcane and back to the “pvp spec” so they can have an easier time balancing.

To a degree, it makes sense to balance individual specs out of classes and just make the others trash. There are 36 of them, after all. That Blizzard has nerfed both frost dk and fury warrior while buffing their counterparts tells me all I need to know.
