Dark gothic theme, where you can still get a lot of ideas and develop a new unique heroic class that uses melee combat, dark and shadow magic, curses, bleeds, shapeshifting and even stealth sometimes maybe, like a dark druid.
You forgot an important part…what type of melee design would they use and how would they keep it seperate from feral.
Melee design really only comes in 2 flavors now…
Spenders/bubbles (WW, Ret, Rogues, Feral)
Builders (Arms, Fury, DKs, DH)
Since they’ve simplified class design so much, it really limits possible class diversity for new classes.
Something like unarmed melee combat with claws in Werewolf form, we even once had feral druids fight in Humanoid panther form.

I’m specifically asking about class design. You’ve essentially described a feral druid that replaces nature magic with shadow magic. (Not sure if feral is weaving in casts right now, but they have in the past)
So how would this class be different?
Something beetwen feral druid, ehancement shaman and unholy dk.
What the differecnce between a mage or a warlock, a paladin or a death knight? There is no limit to imagination and human abilities, ideas.
Warlocks use pets as a main class mechanic, mages dont. Warlock (at least initially) had a big focus on DOTs mages didnt. But yes, 1 of 3 warlock specs (destro) is magelike but 0 of 3 mage specs are warlock like.
Same thing with Paladin/Dk. DK used to have a completely unique class design (runes). They still have runes, but its been simplified so much its essentially a builder spec now. DKs use pets and have a dot spec. Really, there are very few similarities between Ret and Dk.
It would have been better to compare Ret and Monk or feral and rogues, but too late.
Have you ever played as a warlock in affliction specialization? There, the maximum way you use a pet is by sacrificing it to deal additional DOT damage. Destruction warlocks mostly use pets for CC only.

Lol, too late for what? We talked about the theme of the class, and did not compare mechanics.
Here I gave you an example of what kind of mechanics would be suitable, judging by this you just need to argue with someone, you have the right to your opinion.

How about we get worgen dracthyr instead? Dracthyr who were bitten by feral worgen and contracted the worgen curse. They can have a human form, a worgen form, their natural Dracthyr form (of course) and a visage form.
Then they can be evokers.
Or forum trolls.
Worgen only needs 2 things.
For druid, the ability to skip looking like a bear/cat/owl.
For everyone, claw weapons! Yup, being able to wear claw weapons on any class should be their racial.
Next april, every forum portrait is trolls.
worgen are literally just steroid feral druids. no really. its in the lore. the worgen come from feral druids who took the form of a wolf rather than a cat.
I’d argue they need to fix the current balance before adding more classes and more potential balancing headaches.
Technically that would be being a Pack form Druid.
They should just let worgen feral druids use their worgen form. Similarly, they should let worgens transmog their weapons to be their claws so other melee classes can attack with them too. I like the idea of a worgen prot warrior holding a shield and slashing with their free hand.
I guarantee this would drastically increase the number of worgen characters in the game. They should do this now while they’re adjusting racial abilities.
We don’t need a new class. Just make it so Druid can use worgen form for cat and bear; done. (And maybe resto and balance can use human form because we literally can’t play human druids right now, so.)

No. Dracthyr need to settle down and enjoy their success. For the past two expacs, they were a highlight race, and just got several new classes. I refuse to allow non-Gilneans to become Worgen. We will teach them how to fight, and induct them as Harvest Witches to be druids, but turning a Dracthyr into a werewolf?
