It is a travesty that the Horde boss was Thrall; a former Warchief, architect of Horde society, and overall fan favorite. However, the Alliance boss is Alleria; a B List character who was absent from the game for 12 years.
Why didn’t we get to kill a staple of the Alliance of high station? Why didn’t we get to kill Anduin?

Cool, both factions get to kill the not-leader.

You can’t kill a faction leader unless it’s Horde. The only exception is when Blizzard wants to put the king from Classic and TBC back on the throne.

You got to kill someone critical to the game. Warcraft would still exist without Alleria.
It’s a travesty that I don’t get to slowly and painfully murder Wrathion and that it’s just a nightmare vision.
horde don’t even have a leader
Exactly. So you can’t kill ours if we can’t kill yours.
Even though it’s just a vision, it is a way for Alliance to live out their fantasy of killing Green Jesus. Obvious Alliance bias.

A slap in the face for sure.

It makes perfect sense that Alleria, pioneer in void magic and leader of the void elves, would be the most likely alliance character to succumb to Nzoth. She should be the stormwind boss
The horde doesn’t have as clear cut an corruptible option. Thrall would have been the most likely orc as a magic user.

I think Anduin should have at least been involved in a side objective. It kind of sucks that we cant even go near the castle.
Alleria makes more sense as a minion of the Old Gods because of her connection to the Void, but also, would anyone really believe Anduin having boss-level powers? He’s just not dangerous enough to be the boss of, well, anything.
Certain players would have been happier killing Baine than Thrall though… maybe a bit of a missed opportunity there.

Someone said “killing Baine” and I got here as fast as I could.

Alleria has been touched by the Void, and spent years defending herself against the whispers. If anything, Alleria is the best equipped to resist N’zoths influence.
I was also disappointed that we don’t fight Anduin in the horrific vision. But apparently we just aren’t allowed to even muss a hair on his precious head.

Unless N’Zoth is just a big meat puppet for the Void Lords.
I feel ya Greatbobby, i feel ya.
Oh, I think we all know how it would go.
Anduin “Oh my goodness, you guys are here for my tea party!
”
Then you obliterated him with your moon beam and rip the dolls he has for his tea party in half and be done with it.

Just take heart that Turalyon, who should easily the most significant and powerful of all Alliance characters by a stupid margin, continues to be embarrassing to a hysterical sense.
The former Supreme Commander of the Alliance and greatest paladin in history continues to suck, fail, and in this case die without exception or hesitation. First he was caught in plot goop and had to be rescued by his wife like a big fat Malfurion. Then his dignity and impact were sacrificed on the altar of Illidan’s Ego, Illidan being the Shadow the Hedgehog of WarCtaft. Then he’s paired up against Laidrin of all preposterously useless characters like some C-list nothing. And now… he’s an impotent corpse.
Yeah, boohoo, Thrall, whatever. After Cataclysm, there are a whole lot of people who would have been fine with him going and staying away. Yeah, he gets killed, but in an illusionary battle - the fan-fiction of the Ringo of the Old Gods.
That’s still more dignity than the legends of the Alliance are afforded.

Thrall is NOT critical to the game. He’s completely pointless now and has been for a while. Thrall is pulled out like clickbait for cinematics. He should have stayed retired in outlands.
