The game (vanilla) never had the volume of gold flowing into the game that classic does, to the level that dungeon boosting all the way to L60 on multiple characters is done with no care whatsoever. Gold actually meant something back then. Now all you need is a mage alt.
Before you toss out the “game never had” garbage, you better damned well consider how classic is actually being played compared to vanilla. The instance reset is abused on an unprecedented scale, VASTLY more than vanilla ever had players doing. And during vanilla, had it been abused at this frequency, anyone who played back then knows full well that the nerf bat would have smashed the hell out of it.
Yeah, but you don’t even need to take that approach. If you just have weekly ban waves most of these issues all disappear. You wouldn’t need any instance caps at all. You could remove the 30 a day and the 5 per hour caps.
I’ve simmed it at multiple gear levels with and without world buffs. With a relatively common high level set of BWL gear and world buffs, SGC is a 1 DPS downgrade over Malfurion’s Blessed Bulwark without even considering recklessness.
It’s a 0.7 DPS upgrade over Cadaverous Armor. SGC is the single most overrated item in the game.
L O L. 40 strength is not greater than 2.6% crit and 13 strength, ESPECIALLY on rets which are entirely crit based to keep up Vengeance. SGC is a massive dps increase over Malfurions on any level of play.
Firstly, you have no sims. Second, your sims arent counting SoC crits or vengeance uptime. Crit is 100% the best stat for rets over hit rating and should be 100% prioritized over strength.
I have Warrior sims, Ret Paladins are redundant and you’re not thinking clearly. Strength scales so well with all the strength multipliers Ret Paladins have.
10% strength bonus over 15% overall damage from vengeance uptime is nothing. Warriors have better gear itemization over rets, though SGC is still really really high up there with BiS for DPS warriors.
Its not the agility you need to compare, its crit chance. 20 agility = 1% crit. In classic, crit chance is only worse than hit chance. Once you’re hit capped, crit (and therefore agility) is priority for all melee classes. Strength is generally already added on gear, even if its lower amounts. Thats why you see so many warriors/rets wearing gear that don’t even have strength on them. They’ll have hit rating and crit chance.
I’m asking how much 1 point of agility is worth compared to strength. We can see that all the top Ret Paladins are enchanting strength over agility so that means the value of 1 point of agility must be worth less than 1 point of strength.
SGC when considering all the buffs is worth 56 agility worth of crit over MBB. MBB when considering all the buffs is worth 37 strength over SGC.
How much value does 56 agility have compared to 37 strength?
