We are a burden/not useful/trolling if we play the spec we enjoy according to Elitists

If you do raid with a class/spec/build that isnt the best apparently you are trolling, bad and a burden. according to well known youtube elitist personality.

They literally just said that to the face of any class and spec that has done mythic on a sub optimal and underperforming classes and specs just fine

Person A: “I just want the spec i want to play which is Paladin/monk but is that just trolling the other 19 people i play boss fights with, probably

Person B: “Yeah, you want to play what you want to play and be useful, I dont want to be a burden, why would you ever feel that way, that is what confuses, why do you think that would be ok, why is that ok

This is the source of the elitism and the deep disdain they have towards anyone who doesnt play meta, FotM, most optimal build etc, these are the casual comments they give each other when playing with other elitists.

In their eyes everyone who plays for fun and enjoys their spec is trolling the raid, a burden and bad player that isnt useful, they of course try to be friendly and keep up appearances when between casuals and the community but these comments prove how they see players who are here to play a video game for fun and enjoy raiding.

And these are also the same the people who make youtube videos and streams calling classes and specs trash which lead to less knowledgeable players in the community go “Oh you are playing this underperforming class? No invite cuz X streamer told me your spec is trash in their video/stream” even when that spec is perfectly capable of doing the content they were trying to enter.

This is the source of the elitism and toxicity in the game, and there have been many people trying to downplay that lately so I wanted to point out how their own comments reveal their true feelings about casual players who raid for fun.

Your first mistake was taking what YouTube WoW reporters say as gospel.

In practice, people really don’t care that much.

Not when players are found to say stuff like ‘x spec/class/covenant is trash, no invite’ simply because they heard a big popular streamer say it and many players also parrot what the streamer has said everywhere.

It affects the community and therefore the game.

You’re deliberately misinterpreting what Flynn said in the video.

They’re literally talking about not wanting to play a spec that will be a burden because they’re in a guild that competes for world first. They want to play specs they enjoy, but poor balancing on Blizzard’s part is putting them in a crappy position.

blame blizzard for you spec being trash

Oh Jesus. Not more of this crap.

You are forgetting the part where preach aka person b acts so surprised and dumbfounded that people don’t share his perspective

I am pretty sure he wasn’t referring to other world first raiders but casual raiders who play underperforming specs in raid cuz they love them and want to have fun.

But for elitists that is being a burden and trolling the raid cuz clearly you can’t be useful unless you are an fotmer

I don’t understand your position.

Is it that it’s okay if Blizzard has some classes that perform 50% worse than another spec?

No one should want classes to be in the state they are currently. It’s not elitism.

Was going to read this, saw it was a Ralph thread, rethought that decision.

Have fun. LOL

The raid literally doesn’t demand you play certain specs. As long as all the buffs are present, at least as far as dps is concerned, it really doesn’t matter.

Obviously the tanks that get x amount of stacks, then swap and fall back asleep before taunting and repeating get some consideration as to what performs better. Your healer comp also matters in mythic raid. But dps? Who cares. Utility is basically not even used outside of niche occasions, and the rest of the fights are always just tunneling.

Dont worry about that stuff in raids. They’re easy enough that you can get away with whatever spec you want. Now keys? That’s a different story. Only 5 people on a team, and you’re gonna have to use every button you all have. Utility matters In keys. It isn’t just numbers.

People care to some extent, mostly in the pug world. I’ve had a few people ask me what spec I was, and then say stuff like “sorry, no disc on grievous week”… yes this happens even at plus 10s.

But yeah, it’s really not that big of a deal, I just group with friends or list into another group. People ask for my spec maybe once every two weeks or so, and I pug M+ quite frequently.

This is exactly why I am struggling to pick a class xD

ADDING: People will say “the meta doesn’t matter! LOLOLOLOL”.

Uhhhh, if you’re trying to do +15 keys consistently and get into raids… yes… yes it does.

When there was that thread asking where Ralph was I thought I missed him.

Now I can’t wait til he snaps again and gets another vacation.

This is just… lol to say the least.

Yep, this is the perspective but in their case its kind of a mini lie.

I want to participate in my teams dream to get top 100 horde side next raid but I am not willing to play the game like a top 100 raider because I want to play the spec I want. I really don’t want to play “Ranged DPS” and have to have multiple characters ready for Mage/Lock/SP etc.

They already have to do that (especially for WF) and were most likely planning to already. There is always a spec they prefer but they will jump to another class in a millisecond, no matter how closely balanced everything is.

So why pretend its a huge deal for them now when they’d do the same every expansion?

If you perform poorly compared to the rest of your team, then you are being carried by your team.

The fact that your team is gladly carrying you, could also be true. but it doesn’t change the fact that you are being carried.

Now, your raid team might be willing to carry you, cause family friends or whatnot, complete stranger have no such obligation or desire.

Imagine this: You go on a camping trip with friends. You bring nothing for your self. You eat your friend’s food. your friend carries your tent, your sleeping bag, and even bought and carries the bottle of whisky that you suggested your group to take.

Oh you are having a lot of fun. Your group hikes 15 miles through the pristine country side, and you totally having a blast. Your friends on the other hands, are all carrying 15 extra lb of equipment. But it doesn’t matter right? As long as you are having fun and cracking jokes.

Ralph sounds a lot like my MAGA relatives. Blaming every bad thing said about the thing they like on “biased media” run by “elites”.

He’s also blatantly calling someone out in the thread, Flynn, and blaming him for it for something he said out of context in a long video.

Just like anyone else who wants to be right, he formulates it to be pick and choose.

Also pretty sure he’s breaking rules calling Fynn out for this.

You certainly are a burden. That’s for sure.
