WC3 - Mountain Thane - SMF

First of all, I didn’t call that change a compromise. It was done for a very valid reason intended to and largely succeeding in dramatically improving the gameplay for both groups of players.

More importantly, Guardian and Feral fill fundamentally different roles, while SMF and TG are the exact same role, rotation, and gameplay. They’d even have the same talents if SMF itself were not a thing.

I know you have an agenda to push, but this is an incredible false equivalency.

I’m not sure why you have hostility with players wanting to play titan’s grip. Most players just care about transmog and wanting to perform to the best of their capabilities. It sucks that players that want to transmog 1-handers have to take a significant performance decrease to do so. Generally Titan’s grip is more exciting because there are more often two-handers with special effects than there are 1-handed weapons".

Addressing your first option, why would it be a good idea to restrict an entire hero talent to a certain weapon type? All players should enjoy the entirety of their class.

My biggest issue with both SMF and Titan’s grip existing is that it would be absolutely terrible to have to farm 4 different weapons in order to do content. Fury warriors already have a disadvantage of needing 2 weapons when most other dps specs only need one weapon. And typically 2-handers cost more to upgrade or buy too which is another disadvantage.

As I said in my Feedback Post, Warriors don’t have any sort of out of combat “fantasy” spells that other classes do like Shamans and far sight, Hunters and eyes of the beast, Mages and Portals. Why couldn’t Fury warriors get the ability to transmog 2-handers into 1-handers. So I think your 2nd option is really the only option.

I don’t. What I have hostility over is being told for 4 years that my way of playing was just fine, and then being told it’s not, and then suddenly people who didn’t play my class during those first 4 years thinking Titan’s Grip is the way it’s always been, and the only way it should ever be. I’ve literally had arguments in game over people who believed Warriors could dual wield 1h weapons AFTER they could dual wield 2h weapons.

People saw Wrath of the Lich King as peak game time when everyone and their mothers played WoW, which is probably true. This is how Fury was played during WotLK, therefor it’s the only way it should ever be played going forward. And it just sucks.

Again, I am fine with transmog being an option. I am just tired of people who’ve only known Titan’s Grip, arguing against the existence of SMF. What would happen if suddenly Arms could only do a 1H weapon and nothing in the offhand? That’s how I feel about this.

Because it should be something both classes share. And the history of the Hero class itself should hold some level of respect toward design. Mountain King was a thing, there is lore about it, and it’s about dual wielding 1h weapons as well as being a defender of their people. That is how I’ve played my class since Vanilla.

I don’t really know how to explain the Prot/Arms combo other than maybe allowing 2H/Shield combo. I mean Fury already screws around with a 2H in a single hand, so how bad could it be to give that Hero class a 2H/Sword combo?

Hell, I’ve argued for SMF being a “support class” since before Evokers and support classes were announced. I even went with Necrolord as my Shadowlands group so I could try to use my banner for support, since I knew the damage of my spec was garbage itself.

Honestly, I am just arguing with a wall at this point. The vast majority of Fury Warriors are TG, and they don’t give a damn about SMF existing in general, and those who argue in support are always insulted over being stupid.

Warriors don’t need an out of combat spell, since their entire thing is combat. They have shouts that help their allies and harm their enemies.

There are going to be a lot of new players in a 20 year old game that don’t know it’s history. I think both are smf and titan’s grip are cool. No other spec in the game can dual wield 2 handed weapons which is what makes titans grip cool. But the game play isn’t different when you dual wield 1 handers or 2 handers so I think transmog is the best option. Just play the game how you want to play it man, hopefully you enjoy Mountain Thane when it goes live.
