Yes but since everything has turned into buy this for this much gold bots have gotten way worse,and other players are doing the gdkps and stuff to sell their gold to other players for real money to if you stop people from being able to spend gold on things other than buying stuff from the ah and vendors you stop the need for the ton of gold so no need to buy a lot of gold from bots and other players
Im fairly confident that back when WoW had 12 million active users there were not only more bots than there is now there was also more people buying gold and that was before GDKP was a popular system used for raiding.
