Blood DK has built in Anti Daze so they get to have all 3 technically.
Well thatâs just not fairâŚ
No tank spec can be dazed or dismounted by mobs, only by player items (the net thing) or game mechanics (see zone areas that force dismount and/or teleport you.)
DKâs just win out with Path of Frost available to Blood as well.
Ion keeps talking about the strider. I doubt he even knows there is a red one, so it will be a while before this question gets an answer.
The system was originally going to be restricted to level 100+ until a couple of players, invited to a recent ârevealâ thingy, suggested that should be changed.
Of course itâs fair.
In other RPGs one can choose a higher difficulty mode to level in.
In Warcraft you can just play Mage.
My first toon was a mage leveled to 120 as fire. I died often.
I think they should just leave things like this alone and focus on the REAL problems like the paucity of new content that isnât BORING.
and if they so much as touch the DKâs Path of Frost or the Shamanâs waterwalking ability, we will see a MELTDOWN to make Chernobyl look mild.
Flips hair
The barding not only keeps you from being stunned & dazed, it also keeps you from being dismounted. Which is what I use it for when farming mats. I can handle the daze because you really donât have to stop & fight the mobs, you can just keep walking away. The dismount part, however, is very time consuming because now you have to either run away on foot or stop & fight before you can remount. blah. They better not take barding out of the game!
I am really getting tired of Blizzard âfixingâ things that arenât broken, while ignoring the things that players actually complain about. Sure, the new mount equipment slot thing could be cool, but the strider nerf is completely uncalled for. I have been saying for some time now that the ever increasing difficulty of pathfinder, is just Blizzard gradually working towards removal of flight. I expect this is just more of the same, with the end goal being eventually moving everyone back to just plain ground mounts.
Well yes, sure. If itâs restricted to the most recent expansions, just like the Barding and Stirrups, then it is definitely not an improvement over the current system at all.
FYI:
- The heirloom chopper has no daze and is available to a level 1 character.
- There is a water walking potion without a level restriction.
- The strider works from level 20 account wide.
- You can stack effects in Legion and BFA on random mounts and the Strider and Golem today.
- Sky Golem is available at level 80 for mounted gathering.
- Flying is openly available from level 60 until you hit WoD.
If the system isnât retroactive back to at least level 20 then thereâs zero benefit to adding it sans cosmetic water walking and gathering options not tied to consumables with a fixed duration.
If the mount equipment system prevents the use of these other mount buffs which as you point out, can currently be stacked, and restricts you to one buff, (that gained by equipment,) per character, will you still consider it an improvement?
Canât the Strider just keep itâs ability and not benefit from the mount equipment once the patch hits?
Why would the equipment benefit all of the mounts? Seems to make sense that the equipment slot should be unique per mount, across an entire account.
Itâs probably just a preliminary implementation to see how it works.
It doesnât seem to be going very well.
its all blizzards fault for how they designed the game to depend on water striders.its not a mount problem is a game design problem.
i say just nerf the mount and move on.
this is a good question? will we all of a sudden see a pathfinding for water walking? more grinding for more rewards that will eventually be taken away like the stryder? like flying?
What a pointlessly stupid change.
The blizzard i know and love. âBreak whatâs not broken and donât fix anything.â
Bliz devs: âYou know, we really lost alot of subs this xpac, which has hurt out time-played metric. Soon we might have to find a new metric of success. SO! How can we increase time played per person?â
Ion: âTake out the water walker. I hate that mount. Bugs creep me out.â
Bliz devs: Brilliant! Once again we can increase the time traveled mechanics! If people choose the water walking, then they are going to have to spend more time fighting mobs. If they choose the barding option, then they will have to spend more time swimming! WE LOVE IT! Ion, you are soooo smart & wise & brilliant & fabulous & stunning & âŚâŚâŚâŚ ! "
I donât consider the proposed system an improvement now. And that comes as someone without the water strider who seldom uses the potions or other consumables. Itâs change for the sake of change but not really a good change overall.
Let winged mounts glide.
Let aquatic, amphibious, and water going creatures either water walk, swift swim, or at minimum maintain mount speed at the surface.
Let hovering mounts hover over water.
Ditch daze completely.
Remove the zone requirements on the consumables that allow mounted herb gathering.
Bang! Tons of mount choice without unnecessary restrictions.
