Water really does need to be looked at

Thankyou for giving us more conjured water. But please consider making the water we get at level 35 at least a bit better. Currently far from BIS for this phase I have 3600 mana self buffed as fire. The water we drink gives 1992 mana over 30 seconds.

This means that drinking the best water money can currently buy, or that we can conjure, takes me 42 seconds. Raid buffed, it becomes even higher going as high as 48 seconds and even 52-53 seconds as arcane.

The new gear added in SoD is great, but it’s very intellect rich while the water remains the same as it always was. I know drinking is part of classic and especially so for mages. But this is reaching levels of chugging that I haven’t had to do since only having level 45 water as a level 60 priest in classic.

Making water do a % based regen like the seasonal water would be amazing, or just bumping it by around 33% to 50% so it cuts down drinking time and keeps it below 30 seconds would be ideal. As would a mage scroll, since the deciphering is currently fairly basic to give us some passive mana regen akin to an out of combat arcane recovery scroll.

Mage table QoL book that gives % based food instead of fixed values like mana buns in retail would be ideal.

Either or. But as it currently is drinking is terrible and what water we have isn’t nearly enough.

I also made a post about this, but this is also true for Food. Large health pools and Mana pools are far in excess of what we would normally have at 40.

Its a massive inconvenience for mages especially since other classes have much lower mana costs/sustain options. But classes like Warriors also suffer from having large health pools.

%HP/%Mana food implemented in someway is the most balanced solution. Drinking for longer than 30 seconds should never be required. It’s a total drag on the gameplay loot. Drinking for 60 seconds or more is miserable.

Some downtime is certainly warranted, especially for mages, but its far too long currently.

Sucks how little attention this issue gets. But as its currently looking it will remain the same

100% This is a huge issue, drinking is taking almost a minute is ridiculous especially when trying to keep up with tanks and melee etc, or in the STV event. This needs to change.

Sadly will be buried under 1000 spriest outrage threads

Accurate. This problem affects everyone though. We would all benefit. Sadly, many classes are far less affected than others.

How’s that? They didn’t change the stat distribution or itemization formulas. Maybe a few classes got a rune or two giving a small boost to stats but nothing earth-shattering. Eating and drinking was always this bad if your gear wasn’t greens from 10 levels ago and yeah it always sucked.

I’m honestly surprised they haven’t given a spec replenishment at this point.

This isn’t true at all. Gear prior to SoD at this level had us nowhere near the amount of mana we currently have. The gear we are currently getting gives as much int as at least level 60 blues. The blues added by the raids in SoD jack up the amount of good int blues by a factor of 12, every slot has good int on it now as opposed to 4-5 max before. The mobs have more health and the runes spend more mana faster than before. Plus we’re raiding with far longer fight lengths than before.

Water should just correlate with the 20-30 new high int blues we are wearing to keep drinking at around 30ish seconds long max, anything more is excessive. Going towards 40-50 seconds is just cruel when other classes don’t have to drink at all.

Warriors have a commanding shout now. Items from BFD/Gnomer are stronger than previously available items. It was also not likely you’d ever have full raid buffs and costumes at 40 before. We are also wearing pure BiS gear in some cases at 40, which has never been standard, even if you had “good gear” previously you would only have to suffer for a few levels and then you’d get better nourishment. Not be forced to suffer for 3 months.

STV event also dramatically increases HP, which is a problematic balance change in this case.

There have always been level ranges where eating/drinking was a bit inconvenient, but it has never been this bad and this will potentially go on for the entire phase.

There is a reason they added Crystal Water to Dire Maul at 60, at the rate we’re going even that won’t be enough. I have never had 4k mana at level 40 before on any mage I’ve ever played.

Equal item level gear has the same stamina or intellect because the stat formulas haven’t changed. If you had BIS gear back then (e.g. a twink) you had the same problem. It was always like this but people with crap gear didn’t notice.

This is disingenuous because back then equivalent item level gear as it is now was not available for nearly all slots as it is now even if those stat factors didn’t change (and I believe they did). You had maybe Whitemane’s Chapeau, robes of power, robes of the lich, illusionary rod and stoneweaver leggings. Out of those only 2 have good int stats on them.

Now, all of our slots are giving high int in addition to SP and craftable epics. Wands that give int (unheard of in early classic), the epic STV event ring giving 6 int, BFD blues and the new raid putting 10-15 intellect blues in every armour slot, an epic 8 int neck and not to mention the epic staff.

That just wasn’t possible in classic. You could maybe get sort of close if you spammed int gear greens at best (why would you as it was trash and created this drinking issue), but that was without aspect of the lion which moves it up even higher. 4k int at 40 is insane. And it’s going to be baseline for people playing now.

I do not see why we should look at 200+ int at level 40 with 4k mana as a part of SoD gameplay. It’s a problem, drinking time shouldn’t be triple that of trash encounter length.

While 39 might have been a twink level, 40 never has been. A lot of the gear being worn simply did not exist before SoD as well. So none of what you’re driving at is based in reality.

I don’t see what the point of this statement even is:

  • Are you advocating that we don’t need better food/water?
  • Are you just memeing us with “always was”?
  • Or are you just being contrary because it’s in your nature?

Do you find the prospect of better food/water for P2 of SoD problematic? What am I supposed to be garnering from your replies?

Please provide discourse that is actionable or relevant to SoD P2 instead of inaccurate anecdotal evidence.

Why this is controvertial I will never know. Why is a very mild inconsequential QOL change such a deal to some people gatekeeping authenticity in a version of classic made to be different?
