Looking for help. I have blood DK’S, and as soon as I jump off the water fall at very beginning of Neltharion’s Lair (dungeon), I land in the water, and it takes a good 5 min. to get to shore!! WOW suggested I use forums, so here I am. Anyway, there are a couple more areas I have to jump from, and I HATE this dungeon for this same problem. I always land in the water from these other jumps too, and slow fall potion does NOT seem to help. Any advice?? (Other than taking a few minutes to strip off all my gear, and in dungeons, that’s just not really viable.Doesnt help solve this prob either. ) Thanx. Nachtmagen#11631
path of frost lets you walk on water
jump down the waterfall once you are safely in the water use path of frost then jump on top of the surface and run to shore
I did that and It did not work. 3 attempts, no can do. rats!!
Wait so this only happens on your DK? No other toons?
The trick is to use path of frost before you jump into the water.
Is this a figure of speech or does it literally take you 5 minutes to get on land? If it’s the latter, even without path of frost, you’re doing something seriously wrong there.
About path of frost: It lets you walk/ride mounts on water as long as you don’t take damage from any source. As soon as that happens, waterwalking is cancelled. But bear in mind that PoF won’t automatically put you on top of the water surface so you need to jump straight up after casting it.
This is still happening. Even with PoF, it’s not really fixing. I jump up and it doesn’t put me on the water. I have to jump bounce along the top while trying to avoid sinking. Not sure if this is a DK glitch or a PoF glitch. While fishing for the drowned mana on Margoss, sometimes my PoF will just glitch out and it’s ON, but it’s not letting me stay on the surface. And even removing it/recasting doesn’t fix it. I have to log out and log back in to make it work properly.
The original post was a troll post. Its riddled with clues to say it was a troll post.
You are either on a mount that is too big and wont come out of the water completely so Path of Frost seems to not work, or your character is being directed to go down in a 3D environment set by holding down the right mouse button and looking down which will make your character go back under water regardless if you have Path of Frost on.
Characters dont sink by themselves, you have to direct them to go down, or up, removing gear has absolutely no impact on underwater movement or swim speed.
I land in the water and I float there. Trying to move forward makes me sink to the bottom. I jump up to the top. I change the angle of my mouse. I use wad to move. I used PoF. I jump up to the top. The ice doesn’t freeze over on the water. I can’t walk ON the water, because PoF won’t activate properly in that spot especially (initial jump point) no matter what you do. I have to jump w jump w jump w and slowly eek along, because there’s a weird drag there. I eventually got to the land, but it was a lot harder than it should be swimming or using PoF, which I’ve used in other places without issue (other than the Margoss incident mentioned).
Like, call it a troll post all you want, but by my own experiences, I was having issues, which is why I googled it and found this. But hey, thanks for basically saying anyone who tries is just an idiot who didn’t “did you turn it off then on? is it plugged in” the game right. I tried the basics before I opted to google why I couldn’t do what I should be able to do. YMMV.
You couldnt have tried all the basics before because your character is pointed down. The direction of your character, and the direction of your camera, are different things. Left click manipulates the camera, right click manipulates your character.
I also said that, thats the only way
would happen.
And yes, the original post is a troll post.
I’m aware of how the camera angle works. I had attempted to fix all possible errors with the camera/forward angle. This did not remedy anything. And you’re kind of a butt. I said it’s a glitch. Just like how PoF just magically stops working when I’m on Margoss and will not allow for walking on the top of the water, even with removing or recasting it. These are glitches. Clearly other people have encountered these glitches. Consider yourself fortunate that you have not encountered it. Again, YMMV. If you can’t grasp that, refrain from joining in the conversation. You come across as needlessly abrasive.
2 people total is other people?
Been in Nelths Lair for a good 3 weeks now and not a single DK mine, or others, have had any issues in the water, any of them. The first fall, the second fall or the barrel fall.
Just went to Margoss, running all around the pond there, and nothing. The only time I fell through and PoF wouldnt work is when my character was pointed down, not the camera. When the character is pointed down, it will want to go down when swimming when hitting the W key. I then point my character towards the horizon and everything works again.
Its not a glitch.
Stamp your feet a little more. It IS a glitch and I’m not a dumbass enough to not know the difference between moving forward and moving down. Telling me something I experienced isn’t what I experienced because you didn’t experience it is kind of a major jackass thing to do. So, you know, keep jackassing on, Karen.
Then how can you press forward (W key) and go down? I know the answer, and if you did you would know how to fix it instead of blowing your lid.
Its not a glitch, I can repeat what you guys are claiming at will wherever I want, I can even do it on a flying mount.
If the camera/my char is pointed up and facing the sky and moving forward moves them to the bottom of the water, then yeah, it’s a glitch. You’re really bent on pretending that nothing’s wrong ever and you’re right even though you clearly don’t actually know what you’re talking about.
People: “This glitch happened to me, and here’s what happened.”
You: “No it didn’t. Here’s the proof, because it didn’t happen to me, and that means it’s not a thing and you’re a dumb stupid liar.”
People: “But… it happened like this.”
You: “LA LA LA LA. NO IT DIDN’T!”
Sure, Becky. You clearly don’t know what YMMV means.
The camera and character can be pointed in different directions.
Thats why i made a distinction between the 2 and you keep equating them. Your character can be commanded to go in a completely different direction than where your camera is pointing. Its not a glitch.
I can replicate what you are claiming 100% of the time anywhere there is water with PoF active. I can also replicate it while flying. Its not a glitch.
Holding left click manipulates your camera and only your camera will move, no character spin.
Holding down left click will manipulate your character and when you move your mouse left or right it your character will spin. Since you aren’t manipulating your camera, the camera will stay at the characters back.
You have your character looking down. When your character is looking down and you activate PoF and try jumping out of the water you will just fall right back in. Even if it didn’t and it allowed you to stand on top of the water. The second you press w or whatever you have set for move forward. It will go back into the water because forward to a character looking down is down.
And I don’t know why you seem to think that I can’t grasp the difference between the two. I know how to make it so my char moves in the direction I want it to. It’s GLITCHED THERE. Jesus. Take your meds. I don’t use my damn mouse to move, I’m a kb walker. When/if I need to use the mouse to make adjustments, I’m aware of how to do that. I did not have my char ‘looking down’, and all your flailing about it doesn’t help.
Buddy, I don’t know if you’re on the spectrum or not, but you need to understand that other people have other experiences that do not match up with yours and calling me a liar or a troll because my experience varies from yours is just guaranteed to piss someone off. I’m not a frigging idiot. I know how directions work. I understand the difference, and there are glitches in the damn game. Let it the frig go.
No, I’m not. You’re fixating on the camera. That’s what makes me think you’re on the spectrum. You’re focusing on details that aren’t relevant and that I’ve dismissed, but oh, you know better. So keep on keeping on. Keep being mad that you’re telling someone else what they’re doing when you’re being told otherwise. I used PoF once I was already in the water and couldn’t get out and jumping didn’t work and I couldn’t stay on the water even with PoF while jumping. That led me to googling if there was a problem and I found this thread. You’re a dink. Have a good day, dinkus.
You came in here talking about your “experience” which can be created on demand by me or any other person that knows the basics of WoW. I can do it right now at Margoss, I can do it in Neltharion’s Lair, I can do it out in the middle of the damn ocean if you want me to. Its not an experience that is magically exclusive to you, the only thing exclusive to you is that you think its a glitch when its not.
If I can create it on demand no matter where I am, Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Northrend, Pandaria, dungeons with water in it, raids with water in it, then it isnt exclusive to certain areas and its not a glitch as you say.
Path of Frost is only active for a limited time, 10 minutes.
So I bet that you were fishing, and you used your right mouse button to change your camera view to get a better look at your lure, Path of Frost went its full duration because you werent paying attention to it, reapplied it and tried to jump out of the water. Jumping out and back onto Path of Frost wasnt working, you were confused as to what was going on, you googled it and decided it had to be a glitch because you didnt do anything wrong.
You did something wrong, its the fight click to change what you are looking at. You just dont want to admit that you messed up after squawking that it was a glitch.
Its not, I can create it whenever you want me to. I can press forward and my character will “sink”, I can jump all day on either my Dk or my Shaman onto Path of Frost or Water Walking and it wont do it so long as I am already in the water. Its not a glitch.
You can cry foul, you can cry that im on the spectrum which Im not by the way, you can cry im a Karen or a Becky while you are the one acting exactly like that refusing to listen to what others are saying. Not to mention you “misgendered” me, how dare you. Not like I care because calling me a Karen just shows how small of a person you are all the while being a hypocrite.
Guess what buttercup, you are the one having troubles trying to jump out of the water onto Path of Frost. Everyone else in this thread aside from Anon, is saying the player is the one doing something wrong. Call me a dink, call me whatever you want, it just digs your hole deeper.
No, that would be incorrect. I was using PoF fishing, then I used the kb button to turn around in place, and when I did that, I sunk and PoF was still on. I didn’t go up, back, or forward. There was no mouse movement. No clicking other than the keyboard button in the wad arrangement to turn around in place. That caused my char to drop into the water. It’s happened repeatedly when I do it with my Unholy DK. I haven’t tried it with another class DK. That same DK had the glitch in the cavern. PoF was not on. When I fell down the hole and couldn’t swim or move forward, I tried PoF. It didn’t allow me to stay on the surface. I was jumping. I was up over the water. But it didn’t hold. Your inability to recreate it is not my effing problem. I’ve told you upteen times I didn’t do what you seem to think I did. Your inability to grasp that is frustrating as hell and it makes me want to reach through the screen and slap you. Stop telling me what I experienced or what I did when I’m telling you that it’s not the case. You come off as a dink.
I don’t give a good gosh diddly what gender you are. Being a dink is gender inclusive, as is being a Karen. It’s all about the attitude, and honey child, you’ve got plenty of it.
Dinkus Malinkus. Dingle dongle. Boobie ogler.
