Water Elemental Toy

I know this affects a very small percentage of players, but I think it would be really nice if Blizzard added some kind of cosmetic effect, whether a toy or spell or glyph, for mages to summon their water elementals in a non-combat state outside of Icy Veins. Losing an iconic pet for the class outside of very slim burst windows kind of sucks, especially for RPers.

Class fantasy in general has felt extremely neglected since Legion, and little things like this can help preserve a feeling of class identity that sometimes gets lost when things are rebalanced like this. I mostly play mages (too many mages, seriously), so this is the biggest example that comes to mind, but I know other beloved abilities have been lost over the years that could be given a place through the many various cosmetic tools we have for spell visuals.

I know this isn’t a super important topic and it’s been done to death, but seriously, it sucks to lose the pet, and it’s unfortunate that 90% of mage glyphs now do literally nothing for us.

My opinion: If you summon a Guardian out of combat, that guardian should stay summoned until you summon another guardian or enter combat.

This way I could run around all merry on a field with my Infernal like I used to do in Legion.

Here’s a fix that’s in no way shape or form ideal, but it’s what we have:

Get a Water Elemental non-combat pet, summon it out of combat and pretend that’s your combat Water Elemental guardian in portable form, just hanging out with you.

Again, not ideal, but it’s what we have.

Thanks for the links! I actually sometimes do this already using the pet biscuits lol. Like you said it’s not ideal, but I’ll admit it works super well with gnomes since they’re actually proportionately sized.
