Wasnt empyreal ward 100% armor?

Tooltip showing only 30% armor buff now

I believe it was also for 30 secs initially.

It was nerfed yesterday at like midnight for 30% and 8sec.

It’s 50% in PVP.

They also made last minute nerfes to Mages and DKs today.

Yeah, went from 100% armor for 30 seconds
to
30% armor for 8 seconds.

Everyone should have seen it coming. Doubling a tank’s armor for half a minute was bonkers broken.

But ret should be 100

Why?

You could still LoH a tank as Ret.

It seems a little weak for Ret in m+ now. Prot might use it as part of a cooldown rotation, but from a Ret PoV, unless you’re doing organized keys, it’s an emergency heal. How often will a tank need both the heal and the armor bonus to survive?

Will definitely use it in PvP to ignore healing reductions (the armor is a nice bonus).

It would be edge cases for sure but these kind of tech are actually things I would expect from a class tree with enough “loose” points to select them when needed.

Which we have.

None of what was added really is THAT impactful that you feel the need to take it, so it weirdly makes this works.

I don’t mind not picking Lightbearer for the LoH talent or loosing the heal/speed on blessing to pick it.

Obviously talents like stoism, faith armor, divine reach looks weird and out of place and could be replaced with more interesting things but there’s actually a nice “power” balance between all those niche thing.

It’s not something we’ve really seen since the return of trees on paladin.

It’s not really worth talenting. You only get 7-10% armor for 8s as Prot.

Yea, I guess Empyreal Ward is alright. It’s the Prot talents and ST healing talents that really need work. I actually think Stoicism is fine because builds can easily skip it via Seal of Might. Look where Roar of Sac is in the hunter tree: the same exact spot! Maybe the same dev designed our tree. One may ask, “Well why aren’t these just PvP talents?” It’s because you only get three PvP talents, and occasionally something PvP-related gets to go into the baseline talent trees.

I don’t even mind an occasional spec talent in the class tree. The problem with the Prot talents in the class tree is that there are several of them.

If Prots end up not taking it then it should be bumped up to 50% like it is in PvP.

I meant more working 100% on yourself as ret

It’d be bigger for a cloth user if anything.

Empyreal should have been a small dr like 10% after using a forbearance skill. No reason it should be this armor gimick.

The only reason to take it as ret would be in an instance where the tank gets healing reduction crap on him, that is the only real use.
