Virtual Stupidity at least was pretty fun on the PC. I slightly prefer the Genesis game over the SNES B&B, but neither are very good. The Game Gear game is even worse.
I wish this (and the Xbox Bruce Lee game) was better. I haven’t played much of the Jag version, but had the Genesis version. It’s interesting, and I did enjoy it. But, it’s definitely not top-tier…or mid-tier really.
WoW is not my first game but it was my first mmorpg! I think before that the closest thing to it would be Spyro, even though it was a single player game. I had so much fun running around and finding gems and just exploring around.
But first game EVER? That is super Mario. F-zero and R-type would be next. Then Metroid and then… I think it was mortal kombat.
I think I’m going to buy these. I borrowed Pool of Radiance from my uncle in the mid-90s, but that’s all I played of the SSI D&D gold box games; however, my first introduction to the setup was the Genesis port of Countdown to Doomsday, but it doesn’t look like the Buck Rogers-based ones are on Steam. I’ve wondered for quite a while how accurate that port was. I might have to acquire the game otherwise and see at some point.
My youngest uncle (just 3 years older than me, RIP), helped me get a Game Boy in '91 because he wanted someone to play some games with (he had a 286 PC but no consoles). I only knew one person with a Lynx, and I only got to try it out 2 or 3 times. Still, I’m a big fan of it even if I never owned one: I’m a fan of about everything R.J. Mical and Dave Needle worked on. As for the Game Gear, I was playing that mostly my friend’s and my cousin’s. I bought one of the Majesco-sold models very late (99? maybe 2000?) for $15 new with Sonic 2. But, I only ever bought 8 or so games. I bought a Nomad in 2000 though that was $60-70 used. It got a lot more use though…though mostly tethered to the AC adapter in college and alongside the GBA when it hit.
I remember being super excited about Mario brothers 2. I had bought a cereal box with a picture of it on the back.
I used to always try to win the sweepstakes the one where you would win like 500 games for the NES.
I switched to the Sega genesis because the local stores were sold out on Mario brothers 3 for months. I never did own a Super NES. I missed the good Metroids and Mario.
It wasn’t until 007 goldeneye came out on the N64 that I bought another Nintendo
Completely random fact: the first time I played Battletoads was when I stayed all night at my cousin’s house for her birthday and Pee-Wee Herman got arrested that day.
