Or is it about the same?
Not even close. WoD was the only expansion I actually quit playing after I hit max level.
Nah I think WoD was worse. BfA at least has had content. Not necessarily flawless, but there are things to do.
WoD was a desert devoid of anything. It was a struggle to find a reason to log on in the first place.
About the same, for me, but I’m one of those crazy people that enjoyed garrisons.
There’s enough past content to explore at this point that a single terrible expansion isn’t enough to kill my enjoyment of the game.
Selfie patch.
#neverforgive
#neverforget
WoD was worst.
That right there.
The Garrisons were good but with the Selfie Patch and how the content seemed to dry up, sealed it for me as my least liked xpac.
H
WoD was unfortunately a royal mess. That is all. BFA has its shortcomings, but yeah.
There are so many things in WoW I find it hard to say one is better than another because we all come at it from a different perspective.
- Story line
- Questing
- Character design
- PvP
- Dungeons
- Raids
- Gear
etc etc etc
The one thing I struggle with in BFA as someone coming in late is the layers on layers on gearing. The fact you have to SIM your character to even know if a piece of gear is an upgrade raises red flags for me.
The other red flag is that some of these supplementary traits are so powerful they render previous choices redundant.
Overall, I would like to say BFA is better but I am very much over these throw away mechanics that are starting to feel very hollow (Garrisons, Artifacts, Azerite). BFA certainly has more to do and the replay ability is good but the gearing is a nightmare. No expansion gets each class right so its a roll of the dice usually every expansion. One thing that is annoying is the nerf to tanks in PvP without any attempt to balance them properly or give each one a roll to focus on (feels lazy).
No it was not but WOD trolls were better than you
This isn’t a BfA thing, this has been a thing since ever. Go ahead and check WoW Classic, some blue pieces from dungeons are better than raid drops.
Maybe it just feels more prevalent now that previously?
I quit bfa before max level. I turned off xp and 3-5 v 1 camped new max level toons with the atrocious and laughable scaling.
Leveling never felt so terrible
I prefer the gameplay and class design of WoD. I might be in a minority.
I also prefer the zone design, and most of the content, even though BfA has more content.
/shrug
That’s subjective. I played it a lot more. I can say that with certainty. I personally liked it more, but my mains were gladiator warrior and survival hunter. I also like casual pvp and alts. So for me, yes it was better.
I liked Wrath and Cata way more than WoD, Legion, and BfA though. MoP is literally in the middle for me.
It’s far more prevalent now. It was almost obvious enough to deduce yourself without a sim, now it’s just
WoD had less content but the foundations of the game were much better than what we’ve had in Legion/BFA.
We may have had more content in BFA but I hated 90% of it. On top of stuff like classes being overpruned garbage, no pvp vendors, pvp scaling/talents, world content being so faceroll easy that it makes the game feel like a chore, gear progression being completely ruined, etc.
I find them on par with each other. WoD didn’t have much content, but what is had was awesome, alongside better class design.
BfA has a lot of content that bores me to death and I dread doing any of it, even leveling other alts feels like swimming through mud. Everything is slower and more frustrating.
And wod’s selfie patch matches bfa’s pet battle dungeon patch (8.1.5 it was I think?) for me since they’re both of equal insignificance.
So they’re about the same for me.
I’ll probably always consider WoD to be the game’s nadir considering the travesty that was 6.1 and the only two raid tiers because they insisted on cutting content before and after launch to get it over with quicker. I’ve stuck with BfA up to now, but WoD I stopped playing shortly after BRF came out when my DK’s guild disbanded. I left the game for SWTOR and didn’t come back until shortly into Legion.
Except… that was a x.5 patch. You’re comparing an x.x.5 patch and a x.1 patch. Doesn’t that say everything you need to know?
Also 8.1.5 added Zandalari Trolls and Kul Tiran humans, Crucible of Storms, and WoD Timewalking.
