Was vanilla PvP the same as classic?

I don’t PvP often. I was wondering, with all the complaints about Alterac Valley and PvP and such, was this stuff also a problem when the game originally came out? I know that a lot of the original PvP servers tended to skew towards horde in population.

However, I don’t remember anyone making threads about AV bugs or people exploiting Drek. Was that a problem back then. Did Horde have super long queue times then as well due to the aforementioned population imbalance? I’m genuinely curious.

No, this experience is nothing like Vanilla. Vanilla AV consisted of your server players only and could last for hours. Funny thing is you could log off for the night and log back in the next morning to the same AV. At least this is how I remember it.

Original AV had a whole lot more “helper” NPCs that would push back anything but a concerted group effort. You literally had to progress through the battlefield in order to finally have enough down to kill the general. It was definitely not the BG of choice at the time due to the long queue times and long battles.

no
in vanilla you dont farm npc to be high warlord
in vanilla you dont farm av to be high rank

I remember that, from the whole 2 AVs I actually played in vanilla.
I don’t remember People complaining about all this other stuff like queues or anything. I always remember queue times being a lot longer because your server population were the only people in your queue.

In the beginning there were mines all over both sides of the map off the roads and the NPCs did more dmg. Making pug pushes into defense MUCH harder

Also cross server ques weren’t in at the start I don’t think

Beyond that yes pretty much the same from a game perspective. But the players are totally different, in 04 most people were clickers and terrible

So the PvE has gotten easier, and the players have gotten exponentially better on average

Mines are really the biggest difference, no mines allows you to run all over teh map

there were less preamdes this premade meta is getting out of control and is going to cost the game players.
