I understand that the player cap for entering them is 10 (as of 1.12), but I wasn’t sure if they are balanced for 5 or 10?
UBRS was balanced around 10 man. LBRS could be done by a 5 man but everyone just brought 10 to make it go smoother.
Never bothered doing ubrs with 10 late into the patch cycle, will be taking only 5 off the bat for better chances at loot
It was originally 15.
There are a lot of quests in LBRS that can only be completed with 5 people. One of them rewards a pretty good item eg Omokk’s Girth Restrainer.
Horde has quests for ubrs too, pretty sure it’s not a “raid” labeled quest either
The UBRS quest for the trinket can be completed in a raid.

LBRS and UBRS up to an including the first boss of UBRS are tuned for 5 people
everything after the first boss of UBRS is tuned for 10 people,

Tuned for 10 but not the power we are going to have in 1.12 scaling, I don’t even remember the last time I did more then 5 for ubrs in vanilla
LBRS is a miserable instance because the quests are 5-man but the mob density is 10-man.
LBRS would be a much more rockin’ instance if all quests were 10-man – that way 10-man groups of Level 55-60 can clear the instance. Who wants to do an LBRS 5-man with anything less than five Level 60s? Ughuhuhghuguhgughghuguughu!
TL;DR: BRS should be tuned for 10-man. LBRS for 55+, UBRS for 60.
Most people will probably 10 man it with their guild to grab gear quicker.
UBRS I ran with 15, if I remember correctly. At some point it was lessened to 10 as the norm…not sure when or why. LBRS I never ran with more than 5 total though.
I hear that a lot… have yet to see a single person actually show any evidence that 1.12 was much stronger…
a lot of classes were nerfed along the way to 1.12 as well.
Depends on which phase you’re talking about. In phase 1, 10 man UBRS is going to be an old school run!
what… LBRS was always done by 5 people… never had a problem with it.
I ALWAYS did LBRS with 5 haha. I never remember doing it with 10. The attunement key or w/e with 10 people? Wasn’t it a Need/Greed drop?
I think it’s to do with the gear itemization increasing rather than any class change. Dungeon loot received buffs over time to help gear people for additional content.
Basically first version of catch-up gear?
It’s not just the characters, it’s the itemization, we’re talking 1.12 vs like 1.2 when rag was first killed
