To me the world is also the biggest culprit. The original 2 continents feels full of history and has some kind of sense in term of zones and transitions, Outland just seems like random stuff bound together that, for me, created a very disconnected feeling/don’t care.

Vanilla was a world. TBC and beyond are questing zones.
