Was Silvermoon City always this empty?

I’m not talking about players, I mean NPCs.

I went to go to my Heritage Armor quest and there is essentially nobody in the city or surrounding areas besides Guards, Class Trainers and Bank/Auctioneers.

Outside of TBC when it was cool and new, it was always dead

Way out of the way, 0 reason to go there, too many blood elves, and no flying now

yeah I get that, but I am talking more about the NPCs. in every other Racial Capital there are a lot of random npcs walking around just for ambiance and flavor and far more vendors and whatnot. and there is basically none of that in Silvermoon.

The number of NPCs has actually increased, but older cities used to not have a lot of NPCs partially because of their design and partially because in older cities us the players were supposed to be the NPCs

They realised this was a bad idea after Shattrath and have made every city smaller and smaller, or at least more compact and with things to flesh it out (Boralus is a great example of a massive city that’s actually relatively empty, but it doesn’t feel like that)

But yah’, Silvermoon is actually a city that has had their NPCs increased over the years but its too sparse, out of the way, and you can’t fill it with too many NPCs that would ‘fit’ in with how the city is designed

Back in the day you’d see a few max level players hanging out, showing off their stuff to all the new players. Falconwing Square was pretty popular for chit-chatting.

But other than that, it’s mostly just fond memories for people being the first major city many people discovered in WoW.

I think that’s more of a recent thing… I noticed it too, like the portal room in Org? tons of NPCs just casually coming and going.
But it never used to be like that. And Silvermoon hasn’t been touched since TBC.

Oh, well in that case

Lore reason is ya’ll technically had 90% of your population wiped out by the scourge, hence why theres very few people there

There’s even fewer Draenei, lorewise, but the Exodar works a lot better

Its just because of Silvermoon City being a poorly designed set-piece really

Fun thing about BFA:
A lot of people theorised that part of the reason for BFA’s burning of Teldrassil was to make an excuse to touch up on old cities, because Darnassus used to be similar - the theme worked better for open empty spaces, the lake and everything being in and around trees, but it had a similar empty feeling that Silvermoon had so folks theorised that Silvermoon were going to become one of the warfronts so it could get blown up properly so it could be redesigned as a zone
Silvermoon City is that poorly designed that a folks actually thought a blown up version of it would have been better … so that says a lot about the actual design of the place!

As someone who rolled belf when TBC came out, yes, Silvermoon has always appeared that way.

It’s a starting city and now they have exile’s reach. So other than bank alts and RP, it doesn’t get used much.

I really wish they would go back and remake every single capital city from every expansion and have them be on the same scale (in terms of size and detail) as Suramar and add portals to them all so players could decide which capital city was thier capital instead of the defecto being Stormwind and Orgrimmar

We still can’t fly there lmao. Garbage city.

Well Gee… Look what happened to the UNDERCITY… LOL! … Not sure why they didn’t use Silvermoon City for That event, since Silvermoon was way more underplayed as far as the area went. And then they Destroyed South Shore too… And I won’t go into the Continent Divide that destroyed an entire Continent… LOL!

Why would it ever be populated? I never understand this question.

I never remembered it being populated with too many NPC’s. I think the Heritage armor quest may be phased but could be wrong but usually you’ll have NPC’s scattered around, just not that many of them.

That’s because the city is mostly a facade. If you got above it you’d see that behind the building fronts there’s empty space. It would need to be fully completed to allow for flying and that would be a lot of work.

Pretty much, yeah.
I think the Blood Elves population had been decimated in the past. To be fair though, not many players linger in Silvermoon as it’s just too far out of the way and you can’t fly around in the city (despite it not being totally in-doors as it is with the Draenei).
