Did the holy/ret hybrid exist in a similar state to what it was in BC - putting out good heals and being able to take a fool out in PvP if you really want to? That’s what I’m truly looking forward to in Classic aside from the overall quality of the game itself. I guess I’m looking for confirmation that I’m not hoping for something that isn’t real.
I miss what felt like true hybrids - I can’t play retail’s disgusting pigeon-holed specs - play ret and go OOM after five heals, or play holy and they gut your damage spells / nerf the damage you CAN do. No clever gear/talent choices can change the fundamentally forced state of your class in retail.

Yes. Shockadins were fantastic in Vanilla.
Longer cooldown on the burst than in BC, IIRC, but not a big deal since everything in Classic takes longer.
It wasn’t as good, as those extra 10 Talent Point really brought the build together, but it was possible and people did run it.
Don’t know personally but have read it was more viable in tbc and with near end of vanilla loot
Shockadin was alive and well if done correctly. It was heavily dependant on 2 trinkets… The ZG spell power on use and the meteor on use from AQ. Forgive me for no names as this is from my memory as a vanilla paladin. Combine them with divine favor holy shock, consecration, and judgement for maximum burst in a HoJ. Super strong heals and bubble made Holy a force to be reckoned with in group PvP as well.
If you werent able to get both trinkets the damage was slightly underwhelming so very gear dependant but what a fantastic reward once you got them.
