Was Nomi good or evil?

Do you see him as a basically good or bad chef, given his past actions and choices?

The noise I made seeing this post pop up!

I think Nomi is good in his heart, but he’s a terrible chef. Seeing as how we taught him over the years, is he only just as good as is teacher(s)? Are we blaming poor Nomi for our shortcomings as cooking instructors?

This post got extremely personal and I do not like it. I would prefer you not do this.

Ignore the smell of smoke from my kitchen, that’s not relevant.

Hard to say really. Part of me wants to believe he is good and just a bad cook who needed some practice. On the other hand he does seem to enjoy fire more than is healthy.

Who among us does not enjoy fire more than is healthy? Let she who is without cinder cast the first flare.

Seems like a good chap.

I remind the good paladin that we are rating him within his historical context as a good or bad chef, and not as a good or bad chap. I do not believe, despite many threats on the General Discussion forums and trade chat, that he has been turned into any sort of Leatherworking trade good.

I think you’re confusing chap with cap.

Nomi has a passion for food. Maybe he’s just a tad….too eager you know? He’s a pretty bad chef though

Listen, I’m not attracted to people wearing bottomless caps.

This got a laugh out of me that I needed from the title alone, thank you for that.

Nomi is a cosmic entity of flame and hunger, and thus is amoral. He is clearly the TRUE embodiment of shadowflame, and by his nature must drive all things insane and also terribly burn all food. He cannot help but produce food which, in fact, looks back at you.

It largely depends on if someone taught Nomi to add the ultra delux fire seasoning to the food or if he just decided that on his own.

So what you’re trying to say is that Nomi is secretly the Firelord in disguise this entire time and Ragnaros and Smolderon dying were all part of his culinary massacre of burning every bit of food he cooks?

I’m not saying that, I’m not also dismissing it.

Let’s just say that Nomi is a dear child, who is in no way capable of a Cataclysm 2.0, whoever said such things lied.

He basically makes everyone else do his dirty work, and the soup isn’t even that good.

Ooop wrong chef.

Googles Nomi

He was mean to Farmer Fung.

Now I’m not suggesting anything here, but the Firelord position was recently vacated…

Well, we’re here not, and an Alynsa always pays her debts.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Nomi. The craftmanship is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical cooking most of the techniques will go over a typical player’s head. There’s also Nomi’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of his meals, to realise that they’re not just great- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Nomi truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the artistry in Nomi’s existential catchphrase “Always use fresh ingredients,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Gordon Ramsay’s genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools… how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Nomi tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the cooks eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

The Horde’s catapults could in no way reach Teldrassil from Darkshore. Nomi is the real culprit. The tree was burning from the inside during his one visit.
