I’ve only ever played DK in I think early mists and cata so it’s been a long time and I don’t remember. This guy was a boost because I just couldn’t handle the opening zone as any of the specs. I’m currently helping my brother run through old dungeons in level sync to level up his monk since prot takes hit like wet tissue in beta and oh my god. I could watch an entire TV series waiting for my runes to recharge.
I don’t know if it’s a level sync thing or whatever but I’m basically auto attack the class. He’s currently in the 80s bracket so I hope this gets better but I can’t imagine being somebody new to the game and actually enjoying DK in the lower levels.
I could see maybe this being fun back in Wrath when each rune had it’s own type so the extra time allowed you to think how to use your abilities optimally but as it is now I will never level a DK ever again. It honestly terrifies me how slow things might be in Early SL.
I’d play blood but he’s the one learning brew master. Unholy is just so boring at level 80 synched. The crazy thing is I press barely any buttons but I still do ridiculous damage. The feed back is so weird.
I’ve always enjoyed leveling death knights, leveling a fourth one now. Keep in mind that classes aren’t really complete until you reach endgame. When you’re leveling you don’t get to stack any haste, so if regen is bugging you, start off by selecting any talents that affect rune regen or runic power regeneration.
The issues you’re having might also be some kind of wonky scaling side effect, especially since to my knowledge all of your essences, corruption, and azerite traits are disabled in level sync, so you end up with way less in the way of secondary stats than you would otherwise. Not sure, but I can see that being part of it.
Yeah back in Wrath DK leveling was broken. Blood DPS was a thing, did insane damage, and had great sustain. You could spec pure damage, but you could also put value points in strong defensives like Rune Tap, which was a pretty low CD 1 blood rune for 10% health. Death Strike was also the spammed Unholy/Frost Rune spender.
Blood was one of the few specs at the time that could solo group quest.
Yeah when I’m in like a key or something I’m just constantly hitting buttons and then I go to help him level and I’m constantly just praying that I get Runic corruption to proc lol. I remember being similarly bored when I first tried leveling this guy and was just wondering if it’s always been that slow.
The last time I remembered playing DK (besides this guy) was two shotting people in BGs with Frost two hander obliterates and that was a hell of a lot of fun. Don’t remember even what expansion it was. MoP or Cata I’m guessing though.
I regret not playing DK back in Wrath. I was a super salty Warlock main back then who was dedicated to only playing lock with a supreme hated for Rogues and DKs. probably the same amount most people have for DHs now. lol good ol 12 year old me kinda [Removed] myself out of playing a really fun OP class.
I think the reason you’re not having fun while synced down is that not only will your trinkets be disabled but classes are designed around having azerite armor effects and kinda suck without them.
the real question is: Was leveling in general ever fun? as any class?
The answer is no. No, its like working a job you dont want to work, so you can pay to go to the amusement park(max level being the amusement park)
Man I remember blood dps. I stacked armor penetration and I was doing insane numbers. I miss them days. Remember when frost was suppose to be the “tank” spec? Lol
Well, they all were either DPS or tank, which was awesome. It was simply a matter of picking the correct talents at the top of all 3 trees. My two specs in Wrath were both Blood, and I loved it.
Not only do I recommend lvling as Blood, just stay blood all the time lol. Grind rep as blood, do Horrific Visions as Blood. Tank all the things as blood. Idk why dk even has 2 other specs.
