Was karazhan crypt meant for classic?

And just never built? Saw a youtube on it, pretty neat, but empty.

From a breakdown AMA in early development:

The Karazhan Crypts wasn’t finished because when the leveling curve was sped up, Blizzard realized they didn’t need as many micro-dungeons and leveling content. A lot of places he started to build then didn’t get fleshed-out like Badlands and Deadwind Pass. A lot of temporary names in the Crypts, like Upside-Down Sinners, were pushed to the live game without approval.

thanks, that is pretty neat to know. i was always wondering about some areas like deadwind pass, azshara, etc… there’s so much unfinished out there.

Yeah.
I love checking out these places :hugs:

Took another trip to the Crypts yesterday to refresh my memory on how to access.

These places could be perfect for Classic+

Classic+ might have some potential, but only if it was made by a company other than Blizzard.

you mean Cataclysm?

I agree with this notion.
A Classic+ could very well include various quality of life aspects with improved / additional / finished quests and zones.

With how the past expansions (and their patches) have been handled, I have no faith in how a Classic+ would be brought forward with any development team under the supervision of Blizzard.

I mean, now that this is in addition to TBC, I have no qualms with a classic plus. I still think it’s going to be impossible to please most of the playerbase, but I’ve technically played all the vanilla classic I want to, and until TBC was announced every one of these topics was ā€œdo this instead of TBCā€

You can’t have my RP hideout!!!

Fun Fact: in original TBC pre-patch, the crypt mobs dropped netherweave etc; early.

This was my favorite thing from any WoW exploration video. It’s a shame they ended up having to remove it from the game (if I’m not mistaken?) but it was neat to see the name used in Diablo 3 as the shoulders of a monk set (which has things floating up over the shoulders kinda like the floating bodies underwater, totally cool).

It’s still there. Just not for the Chinese client.

Is it in the retail client? That’s what I was referring to. I am pretty sure they fixed the fear/sheep glitch used to get in there before because I tried to get in last year and was unable. Maybe we just screwed up.

Hrm, that I am not sure and can’t remember. I think Cata may have done some stuff to it. But, not sure. But now I have a task!!!

Welp, looks like the put up a solid fence inside now. To be honest I have not been in there in a while. Didn’t they use it for one of the legion class quests? Man, I can’t remember.

So it looks like it is gone in retail now.

Can you still die and res on the other side of the gate? Never checked it out back in the day but I would definitely like to see it.

Ooh, haven’t tried this. But if you can, I wonder if you can still see the sinners, since certain things aren’t visible when dead.

Which is why classic + would be great and relatively cheap…

The problem with this is that the people who were the geniuses behind the original WoW are no longer there. The ensuing game would be written by those doing Retail…

I’m not usually ā€˜that guy’ but, do we really trust the game they’d make Classic into?

muh classic+

We already have ā€œclassic+ā€, it’s called TBC.
