Was Ivar Bloodfang good or evil or something inbetween?

Now, given what we know of his past and what’s he done, but what he’s also done to help the alliance, do you guys see him as evil, good, or more morally grey?

Lets discuss

From a Horde (Forsaken exclusively) PoV he did start the conflict between the Forsaken and the Gilneans by invading Tirisfall. It wasn’t enough that they were reclaiming silverpine and he’s unfaltteringly portrayed as both a threat to the Horde and and to Gilneas. But I’m glad he gets fleshed out in the Alliance side.

It’s clear Argual was the real enemy to both factions.

He’s more morally grey to me than evil. Sure he was part of Alpha Primes group that converted most of gilneas into the worgen, but he did help the gilneans to ultimately push the forsaken out of the city, while also securing Shadowfang Keep.

Plus he and his pack did travel all the way to Darkshore to help the Kaldorei, just because the forsaken were there and he REALLY hates the forsaken. Make a Scarlet blush with how much he hates them :stuck_out_tongue:

By extension to this, question for you. Do you think Godfrey was evil?

Especially after his betrayl of Genn. Do you think he was justified to betray them all because he didn’t want to be a worgen? Was he redeemed in your eyes after he became a Forsaken and turned on the Forsaken?

He saved Lorna, but I don’t think Lorna was in any real danger. Lorna was worth more alive than dead.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Ivar Bloodfang. The morality is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical furryism most of the nuance will go over a typical player’s head. There’s also Ivar’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these quests, to realise that they’re not just interesting- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Ivar Bloodfang truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Ivar’s existential catchphrase “The Bloodfang will hunt the Forsaken into extinction,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Afrasiabi’s genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools… how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Ivar Bloodfang tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the furries eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

He wasn’t justified in anything he did. Dude had issues with authority even when he was alive, he often made things worse for everyone around him… If things had gone his way, Crowley would still have been in jail and who knows how the war in gilneas would have went without him

I agree Crowley is a stand out Gilnean hero. One of the best of the Alliance in my opinion.

I hope we get to see Darius and Lorna in the new Reclaiming Gilneas story.

He went against Mister Crowley’s orders. He abandoned his post and is therefore a traitor. To his people, and most of all, to the coolest worgen.

Death to all traitors.

I would definitely argue Ivar is not good. Whether he is evil is up for debate. His whole deal is he hates the Forsaken, arguably more than the Scarlets do, considering the ONLY reason he allied with the Alliance in Cata and in BfA during the Darkshore warfront was because he wanted to kill Forsaken.

That’s all he wants is to wipe out the Forsaken. And considering not all Forsaken are evil or do bad things I would say that makes Ivar at most morally grey, but bordering on evil cause he just wants to kill all Forsaken.

And what’s weird is I don’t think they ever explain why he hates the Forsaken, as far as we know he doesn’t identify as being Gilnean, and thus was upset they ran the Gilneans out of their kingdom. Hell he didn’t even care about Gilneas and was pissed that Crowley made the deal to retreat into Gilneas and have a ceasefire with the Forsaken cause Ivar wanted to keep killing the Forsaken. So why does he hate them?

He’s a worgen Illidan. Good intentions, finds a way to break everything.

Ivar reminds me of the early days of Greymanes rule. He used to be pretty ruthless about protecting his people at all costs, no matter what they were.

As far as Ivar hating the undead so much, it’s likely because he sees the forsaken as a threat to his and his packs survival. He probably sees them as abominations because to him at least goldrinn is a natural wild god
