I think it’s now possible to assume that Elune may have been mind controlling Sylvanas. Elune self admittedly wanted to send night elf souls to Ardenweald in order to help the drought, so it’s very possible that elune was mind controlling or at least influencing Sylvanas to burn the tree in order to get the souls.
True…send her deluded followers into an eternal paradise. Perhaps a little fire isn’t so bad. Quite frankly Elune is an impotent Goddess and is unworthy of praise.
No. Listen to what she is saying.
After the Catastrophe she sent them. So she just took advantage of a situation.
But she probably turned a blind eye to the situation.
Yes, she is mind controlling the jailer too.
Sylvanas hardly needs MCing to do that, she’s been a long time terrible person.
I think people are misunderstanding this. Well they’re wrong about all of this, but this part too. Elune did not orchestrate their deaths. She didn’t start a war or anything. The burning didn’t even happen until the very last minute. The Horde’s original goal was to just take Teldrassil hostage to fracture the Alliance.
Elune would have had almost no warning about the fire. But when it happened and it became a clear a ton of souls were about to die at once she could instead ease the pain of their passing and use it to help her sister who was also in need. A spur of the moment decision for an opportunity to benefit both sides of victims.
So she intended for them to all die, which makes her a monster.
So she intentionally let them all die. Instead of using said power to ‘prevent death’ she just let her most loyal of children boil away.
At least they didn’t feel any pain, says the monster who watched them die.
More that, as is already established lore from other books, Elune expects her follows to be able to stand or fall on their own.
Well Elune clearly expected them to all die, so mission accomplished.
I don’t believe so because it was her primal side that made her judgement on the matter. Her decision to make it clear she was in charge.
Night Elves are pretty terrible so it’s all good.
Night Elfs are supposed to always go to Ardenweald or Elune can influence on that?
I don’t see it if so we would’ve.She is as she is a self goddess of two extremes and her role is the balance of life and death within the cycle, she couldn’t care less how but when.
They used of the war of thorns theme when Elune did her stuff.
I think it’s implied that she influenced Delaryn Summermoon in the Warbringers cinematic to say something that would push Sylvanas over the edge.
No, that wasn’t implied at all.
And our latest entry into the “Dumbest fan theory”, the OP.
Regardless of whether you think she was influencing sylvanas or not, she is still responsible for the tree burning and the night elves almost going extinct as she had the power and opportunity to prevent it.
You guys need english composition 101… “In the wake” means as a result of… Elune had nothing to do with or premeditated what happened with the Night Elves. She immediately tried to send them to Ardenweald bypassing the usual path of souls, but because that system was disrupted by the jailer, everything went to the Maw… She was apparently clueless about that.
Bad storytelling is bad… It just keeps getting worse… The good guys are idiots and the bad guys have ridiculous plot armor.
Yes, to answer the plea for help from the Winter queen who failed to mention that there was a clear understandable problem with how the system was working.
If you read the books, there is a passage that explains that she was keep from being able to help the NE until the very end and at that point all she could do is give them a painless death.
Plus lets be honest, it would have been hard for the writers to push their “war” theme if the entire Horde army was struck down by a god the second they marched into the NE lands. The NEs could have had the freaking titan pantheon over from breakfast and the story would have played out exactly as it did. They story arc required the NEs to be sitting ducks and the writers did everything they had to to ensure they where.
Don’t confuse bad writing with creative sub-plots. I mean who actually thinks the NEs would have sent their entire military away while the entire Horde army marched along their southern border?
