The restore feature is currently not working which I wasn’t aware of otherwise I would have just recovered it that way. I submitted a ticket but so far the responses have been “its coming soon”.
I reserve my name on several servers from back when everything wasn’t cross realm (I’ve had this account since TBC) and finally decided I should go clean up those characters. So I was deleting an old level 1 that shared a name with my main and boom my main disappears. I don’t know if it was a bug or what happened, but it seems that other people have said the same has happened to them. We need this function working, they shouldn’t even ALLOW you to delete ANY character while this bug exists and no recovery option is available.
