Remember when OG Classic was on its prime and the PvP community was healthy alongside with the game itself? Remember when the Warsong Gulch Summer Bowl popped and a lot of teams went to play it and it was so fun to watch (and also play it, for those who had teams) that ppl got so engaged on it? I know that SoD isnt the same things as it was when those things came on, but I really miss playing WSG and AB and now on SoD there isn’t a reason for playing it anymore, everybody is exalted and if people want honor they just do PvE AV’s…
What I am talking about is that the devs needs to do new features like PvP items, idk, anything that makes those Battlegrounds playable again! I’m just playing for fun whenever the long queues pops and doing something that make them worth will bring a spot for those battlegrounds again and PvP community will be pleased and rewarded, because nowadas the PvP is DEAD on SoD.
99% of things you do is to get some reward ingame, or you do raids and stuff because you don’t have anything else to do?
Even back there ppl were doing to get honor, rank, reputation, but in SoD there is no reason and the BGs are dead. Or blizzard close the bgs and assume SoD is just a big PvE crap version of the game, or make something to raise up PvP community again, bcz the way it is right now there’s no PvP, BRM event is a crap event.
Not on sod, no. It’s a basket case for people who are die hards and actually care about the atmosphere you’re describing . Might be fun in a casual way but no thanks. Maybe next season
youre assuming SoD is a big PvE crap? Why would blizzard do PvP servers, then? If they don’t care about PvP in SoD, just make a dragonslayer game like and shut down PvP then, instead of giving us crap PvP content
I think sod is heavily in favor of the pve aspect of the game even regardless of the pvp events they put in place yes.
Though vanilla is normally a pve game, it is also a PvP game at the same time and most ppl don’t know what I mean by that but I am sure you do personally.
They’ve made plenty of pvp changes that goes against why we like vanilla pvp in favor of ease and convenience such as brain dead easy rep esrly phases, the constant battleground blanket reduction changes, constant class changes wildly shifting the meta every other week, and the full premade nerf which did more harm for solos than good anyways.
That’s just standard practice. PvP server doesn’t mean pvp focused game. A pvp server just better emulates 2 warring factions in a world.
I don’t know what their thoughts are on pvp but I know they don’t get what makes it good so no point trying to salvage it for sod. It’s just way better the way it was
No actually, I do not. Classic-era PvP was also a nightmare of endless premades, AV rushing that later became 1.5 years of Horde scorched earth featuring 25 AFK alliance, and ranking drama caused by sweatlords and trolls fighting each other.
It’s not about fun, it’s about optimizing the fastest path to the rewards and it was like that in 2019 as well. That’s what this playerbase is now and it sadly will never change.
Premades are where all the fun is. If you don’t like premades you really just don’t like vanilla PvP. That’s where all the server bonds are formed and enemies made. It’s a unique social dynamic and it’s always been easy to join groups for pvp.
The entire game is based around social circles and grouping, but for whatever reason, some people argue pvp isn’t supposed to be.
It’s about both. You can have fun and be optimal. You do the same thing in raids do you
Not?
Is it fun to wipe for hours or clear mc in 4 hours vs 45 mins?
People claim “fun”, but nobody has fun being suboptimal. Sorry, I have never seen a good argument for suboptimal play being fun in the 10+ years playing vanilla
They need to make ab and wsg give more honor , so that way people will
Queue more for ab /wsg and only
Queue for av for the rep . This is an easy fix .
They could just not spawn the end boss in AV until 4 towers are burned. Dramatically slowing down the Hhp to more realistic values which makes the other BGs better too. You can actually make 20k+ hph in wsg/ab but you need players playing there to do that
You’re welcome to your opinion and you’re welcome to provide a counter argument that is not rooted solely in emotional feelings toward the scenario
“Nuh-uh” is the only real counter “argument” I get
I say “game is built around grouping” and then I get “yeah everything except pvp”
If these players truly hated premades and wanted them gone, they’d ask for RBGs. Separating the random game players from premades entirely. Instead they opt to kill oremades which never works anyways, as premades simply sync q
Fascinating because this wasn’t a thing in actual vanilla. Premades existed, but did not dominate bg queues, and they certainly were not optimized thanks to the lack of knowledge, skill, and outside tools like Discord that make all of this possible today. Simply asinine to compare it.
Premades are fun because you stomp un-organized pugs and win fast. Most premade players do not like facing other premades for a reason. They don’t find challenge fun, they don’t want “slow games”, they don’t want to put real effort into winning.
The point of a premade is to stomp pugs. That’s why y’all are so vehemently against premade vs premade only queues. Stop being dishonest.
This is a game. And this isn’t just about the part where you improve by optimizing things like your gear or your stats. That’s important and it’s part of the gearing journey.
But y’all treat this game like a corporate job where everything is now a metric and must be optimized to the fullest, and then always use the most extreme outlandish examples (4 hours of MC wiping) when someone has a problem with how extensive this has become across the community. “People are PvPing in a PvP battleground and now my HPH has gone down!” yawn.
If optimizing every single part of this game into spreadsheet metrics is fun for you, get a job for Amazon instead. At least get paid for it. This game wasn’t created to be another job.
Actually this is false. I played original vanilla, and the dynamics between the ranking system then and now were nearly identical. You still had your bracket 1 premade rolling all day long, people still abided by or broke brackets, etc. it was a bit less optimized due to lack of discord, it was all just done in game chat etc
This is the straw-man argument that is constantly touted on repeat with zero proof to stamp on it.
It is totally ignorant to believe everyone doesn’t want a challenge or that groups do not like competition
Are there some premades who don’t like to fight it out? Sure there’s those kinds of groups, but when pug groups are doing the exact same thing (just let them win) it doesn’t make it a very good argument does it? I played in the finals in the summer bowl tournament that OP mentioned, my group doesn’t need to stomp pugs. We love fighting other premades and the amount of these teams that instantly fold is not nearly as much as the anti premade crowd claims.
Hph is just part of the game. If you are ranking you don’t just ignore it. You don’t have to mega optimize to make good hph. When I ranked on SOM I was making 25k hph in wsg/ab - that means we could fight out 30m games vs premades - leaving plenty of room for fun
Did you know that if your premade is strapped up, very experienced and prepared, and skilled enough to beat other good teams, that you will actually make more HPH than standard teams who are just trying to optimize solely around hph?
But again, sure, you do still have premades who just throw games for hph purposes, but so do pugs so it’s a really bad argument. Pugs will even do this vs other pugs
This is a player behavior problem, not a game problem
It is actually human nature and a biological element of people to want to behave optimally IRL, it is a natural, and primal function and is never going away irl or in a game
