Warriors rolling need on spirit gear?

I’ve had this happen twice now, running a dungeon and a healer weapon drops, and the warrior decides to role need against someone else in the party.
I ask why would a warrior want that, and they say spirit gear is a priority for leveling a warrior.

Is this a thing in classic? Or are they just being Diks?

Spirit increases HP regain which helps a class that has to sit there and just bonk as well get bonked for leveling.

Strength and spirit? And if the weapon damage is an upgrade then I’d say it’s ok for a warrior to roll on it. Spirit does help with solo leveling because warriors have no self heals.

This one. I’m assuming it was a staff and pre like level 30 you take whatever hits the hardest since there is no weapon specialization until then.

Also something like 5 strength or whatever is meaningless since it is only like 2 white swing damage early on from the atp gained.

Not to mention that warriors gain the most by far from spirit over any other class. It’s the best stat for warriors up until about ~30.

The Warrior dungeon set gives 35 spirit. It was the 4th priority stat for Warriors early in Vanilla. Higher than that for solo leveling.

It reduces downtime a lot… provides the most health regeneration of any class.

Before rolling on the piece, I’d inspect you to see if you would benefit more from the upgrade than me.

I feel like people justify players doing garbage things to other players because they get hung up on “Well, actually, they benefit from that stat too”. Sure they do. Everyone benefits from every stat in some form.

It doesn’t mean you roll against other class(es) on-the-spot for something that is generally accepted to be best suited to them. If you want to argue how it’s your right to do something like that, fine – but INFORM THE GROUP BEFORE YOU START. That way if someone says “That’s garbage, I’m not doing this” they can opt to leave. If they don’t care, then huzzah have fun rolling.

Warriors and rogues during leveling are only looking at the damage range/dps of the weapon. Stats are just bonus. During leveling, if its an upgrade, they will roll.

I had a warrior dpsing in a dungeon roll need on a spirit stam ring and win it over me. He got maybe 2 heals the rest of the gnomer run despite taking aggro every other pull. I hope his new spirit helped him recover that health because i sure as heck wasn’t going to anymore.

My vc druid experience has been. Join as dps lose roll on agi int ring twice once to a warlock the other to a mage. Join as heals lose int staff to dps druid. Join as tank lose leather chest from last boss to healing druid. Im not salty. I SWEAR.

Stamina is one of the most important stats for warriors, esp if they are gonna tank. Which he probably does in other groups.

If you had said Int/Spirit, then you’d have a point.

Stats are a secondary consideration with leveling weapons. If its got higher base dps its good for us, and for some reason the base dps on staffs is weirdly high. Spirit also increases health regen speed. Ive seen warriors on YouTube running full spirit gear with a staff for a weapon. They hit hard and they have less down time between fights when solo leveling.

Is it useful? Sure, should a warrior ever roll need if a priest needs it? Absolutely not! So what to do when they do? Step 1 add them to the ignore list, Step 2 leave the dungeon, Step 3 let everyone in LFG/World know about it. Maybe not step 2, but absolutely step 1! Spirit gear is helpful when they are regenning health in the world, and utterly worthless in dungeons. One exception is staves as the dmg on them is often BIS for warriors, it sucks but what are you gonna do…

These are bad players, you don’t want to be with them. If they mention wanting to roll need on something like that, make it very clear if they do it will be the last time they play with you…

Only things warrior shouldn’t roll on is, INT gear, since they have not Intelligence. Thats by design, what toon in its right mind wants to be fodder for bosses and take those horrendous repair bills after every raid.

Can confirm.

35 war here, after every one in my party already had the hypnotic dagger from SM Lib I rolled need on it because the dps was 50% higher than what i was using. The fact that it has intelligence on it doesn’t even matter at this level.

I will grab another one for dual wielding if i can get into another group that wants to chain run Lib as well, assuming all the casters and other melee dps in the group have one already or don’t want it.

Sounds like 2 too many, if he complains about it tell him to use that ring to regen hp…

as long as you checked with your group… i see no issue…

Troll warriors/rogues put spirit to good use because of the race bonus. Anyone else… it’s a garbage stat. I don’t mind some intellect/spirit on my gear, but I don’t go out of my way to get more. My warrior is orc and rogue is undead. There’s no 10% bonus for me. I’d actually love to have that bonus, but I hate trolls (and taurens). I’ll settle for the potions. Just guzzle a troll potion and you get that troll goodness without the race.

I see these posts and keep wondering. Why the frack don’t players put it on master looter to prevent this. Unless you are in a premade group never trust pugs.
