Warriors NEED to be Vanilla Warriors (Not 1.12)

freakin jealous people wanting to nerf the fun of others.

sad.

Not a nerf if they are simply kept in an unbuffed state. Especially if not buffing them improves the lot of hybrids.

it does nothing to improve the state of hybrids.

the only way it could is to nerf the threat gen from the shield slam changes , thus creating a roof for everyone to hit with their own threat gen and allowing hybrids to catch up.

but then nobody would be able to do naxx due to the dps requirements .

face it . you want to nerf warriors cause youre jealous.

Reverting the threat changes is something that Iā€™ve been in support of for a while now.

It would also have the benefit of making threat matter a lot more, which I think it was better when Vanilla had that.

Easy fix, and the preferred one.

Iā€™ll roll whatever is FOTM while FOTM exists in such grotesque quantities as it did in vanilla. Nerf warrior to a previous state and it will be rogue or mage. You can keep going with the nerfs until ret is viable, though  that would be great!

Oh look akaidian still doesnā€™t understand the meaning of the word viable

Well it wouldnā€™t be true Vanilla without Ret Paladins whining about their DPS.

Heā€™s just adding to the authenticity of the Classic forums =P

Therefore we need to not buff them to retain that authenticity

Just putting shield slam back at 30 would have a huge benefit to lots of aspects of the gameā€¦including making threat more important providing a more authentic feel.

I mained a warrior through ALL of vanilla. I would compare the experience of vanilla warriors to the ahead of the curve achievement in todays wowā€¦ what I mean is, playing a warrior, if always felt like blizzard had an idea of the ā€œgeneric warriorā€ and balanced the class for that point. If you had gear which placed you above that balance point you became more and more powerful and thus if you were ā€œahead of the curveā€ you were a god in pvp and did above expected damage in raidsā€¦ especially when using leather gear which for some reason blizzard didnā€™t cater for early on.

If they are going to open the door to changing classes/specs based on intent, why stop at warrior?

I thought this was for the fans of vanilla? Why not run the first iteration of classic with all the balance problems as they were in vanilla, then on the second iteration of classic (ie when the first batch of classic servers go from mc/bwl to naxx they eventually reach end of life and a new ā€œseasonā€ of servers will probably launch).

they arent changing the balance. get used to it.

the only acceptable change would be making 1.5 av and the rest unchanged.

They never change anything until they do. If you played any version of this game you should know they will change anything they want to if they want to no matter what was or was not said in the past.

Revert the threat changes (keep the later threat/taunt mechanics for Naxxramas only via zone wide buff) AND normalize rage gainsā€¦

The first artificially caps their dps and significantly improves hybrid value (being them being closer to the good dps who are now threat capped)

The second, just fixes warriors on both ends, so they donā€™t suck horribly in zero gear, and also so they donā€™t feedback loop scale into demigods with top tier gear.

why make warriors scale differently at different levels with rage, when you can simply give rage generation a dynamic cap that has practically no effect on warriors below level 60?

Iā€™ve posted about this before; Iā€™ll edit in a relevant pastebin link explaining exactly what I mean and how to go about doing it shortly

also, pre-1.11 shield slam would help too, but they arenā€™t doing class balance, which also means no rage generation changes

but rage normalization is a bad idea, as it has a huge impact upon levelling; warriors only had so many skills to spend their rage(of which they had little) on while levelling, and as time went on, they eventually got their whirlwind axe, and then their rage problems went away around the time when they actually got good rage dumps, such as slam(30), whirlwind(36), and BT/MS(40)
before slam, their best actual rage dump by far was cleave(IF itā€™d hit a second opponent), which they got at level 20, and they could get a decent two-handed weapon around that level by doing WC or VC and getting the staff quest reward or looting a weapon from a boss in one of those dungeon

EDIT: and heres that link that Iā€™d said Iā€™d edit in: EDIT: http s://pastebin. com/xqaJ5vFf ; I couldā€™ve posted just the relevant section, but I figured Iā€™d post the whole since since I hadnā€™t found an excuse to do it for a while
refer to section #10 for what I meant about rage generation, and exactly how the cap would work(delete the 2 spacebars yourself)ā€¦ purists can ignore every part below the line that reads: ā€œincrease V; once it is increased to 6, stop increasing itā€

EDIT: and I really shouldā€™ve mentioned this part earlier, but if you want warriors to not be worthwhile as dps in raids, then you could decrease V to 4 or even 3ā€¦ but Iā€™d rather that they still be worthwhile as dps in raids

Both Apocalypse and Tarregorā€™s suggestions seem quite well thought out and constructive. Particularly the part in regards to the normalization of rage generation or the introduction of dynamic rage caps, I will amend it to my original post; with references.

If warriors get changes, everyone needs to get changesā€¦ otherwise Ill stick to private servers.

because private servers with made up backend #s have no changes lol

private servers arent even close to an accurate reflection of vanilla; and for that matter they arent even close to 1.12, if you only ever played on private servers and never actually played the original game I can understand your pointā€¦ but what we are after is an accurate reflection of the original WoW Vanilla game.

Warriors for the majority of vanilla NEVER played the way they do on the false abstractions which are private servers.

i got sick of these ā€œbring x class in lineā€ threads a long time ago.

stop trying to kill the fun of being strong when you actually get the gear.

i am so tired of crap like this. i will be glad when it doesnt happen.
