The warrior life is a journey… You have to have the right personality and mindset for it. It is the hardest class to gear because you need a tanking set and a dps set, and potentially another set for PvP.
No matter how many times you get pushed down, you must get back up. And one day, you will become a God.
Can be hard early on. Gear is sparse and you have to melee one mob at a time.
Warriors are very weak to casters, be it players or mobs, that bubble. You end up rage starved.
You have relatively low mobility, about on par with a mage, but far more than a warlock, who gets no speed buffs at all.
On a positive note, warriors tend to scale dramatically with gear. So much so that warriors are top melee dps and best tanks, so finding groups aren’t hard if you tank.
Warriors shine when supported by a team. Solo they are rather annoying, but nothing to be afraid of.
So if you role a warrior, find that guild, and find leveling budd(ies) if you can.
Even if he’s Arms or Fury, he’s going to be expected to go sword and board often. That’s one thing everyone seems to be forgetting. Ret/Shadow/Feral/Oomkin/Elemental/Enhancement Heals, Warriors tank.
That entirely depends on the group and gear. A warrior in shabby gear or a few levels below the dungeon mobs is a worthless tank and better off just as dps.
If you’re sitting outside an instance looking for a warrior with a feral Druid and another healing class in your group, you’re an idiot. Obviously at raid ready 60, the game changes.
While leveling, the issue isn’t the lack of tank classes. It’s the lack of finding people willing to tank.
I mean, that’s not anything to do with what they said. They just said that warriors will never be solely DPS, or that hybrids will never be expected to heal.

Each to their own with regards to how they want to play their Warrior in Classic. Don’t let the whole mindset of ‘If you’re not a tank then don’t bother rolling a Warrior’ influence your decision. I’m going to be (he says now) rolling a Warrior at Classic and levelling as Arms from level 1 to 60, with the main focus on PVP. I might look at Prot at some point just out of interest.
If PVE is your thing then obviously Prot would put you in a better position than Arms or Fury, but regardless you can still perform well as DPS in PVE, so do whatever you feel you’ll enjoy the most.
warriors are fun to level if you go arms imo. Not as bad at leveling as most people claim. You will need to be extra careful in how you pull mobs though, especially early on.
For dungeons you will be expected to tank, other warriors typically wont want you dpsing in their group and competing for loot.
In pvp warriors are wrecking balls when they have support but easily kited when they don’t.
Very gear dependent but scale the best in gear so gear feels more rewarding to get. Not a great class to play at 60 unless you are in top end gear.
Looking through quest rewards in classicdb, I see few gear rewards for warriors, and they’re scattered across all the starting zones. This is somewhat true for all classes, but noticeably so for warriors.
Once you get level 20, or so, and do the dungeons, the gear drought isn’t so harsh. But expect a slow beginning. For this reason, I’d do Blacksmith, while playing warrior.
