so i know im still pretty early in the lvling process but does warrior seem to pick up steam? everyone says they hit like trucks but is that only with great gear at 60? i might be stuck doing a lot of solo play due to mainly playing late night cst. i figure it will pay off also being able to tank if i want at high levels
With an optimal build you can start effectively being consistent and deal good damage around lv 25.
It’s a little slower til then.
Are you an alchemist? The potions help immensely. Sad to say, you need at least a full set of blues at 60 for things to start getting good.
I would Imagine it does get better, everything probably gets better with better gear. For me, I really do enjoy playing a Warrior, it is by far my favorite class in this game.
I prefer arms over fury, but my warrior at the moment is fury and it is a lot of fun. Smashing things with 2 two handed weapons makes such a great sound.
Definitely gets better. 25 starts to be okay and by 30+ you should be hitting good strides with moderate gearing and a good talent build. Reference WoWHead’s warrior leveling guide for a good Arms build in leveling. You don’t need anything Prot to tank before L50.
The key tip for leveling a warrior is always try to stay ahead of the curve for the zone you’re in. By that, I mean make sure before you start a zone or move into a zone that most of the mobs and quests are green to you. Doing so will ensure you hit the most reliably and move most efficiently through the zone with little downtime. It does mean you have to grind a bit here and there but the grind now is better than moving on too early and dying a bunch.
In vanilla it felt like one long grind that never ended. Which was ok cause thats what i thought the game was back then. My brother rolled a warrior this time around and he said 1-55 were actually chill. But the last 5 levels were torture. Its probably all subjective though.
Warriors are very gear dependent, especially when it comes to weapons. So quite simply, warrior is great right after getting a rare weapon drop from a dungeon … and the gets a bit worse until the next dungeon weapon drop.
Grab whirlwind axe and things begin to change for you for the better
Warriors will always be like guards in world PVP in equal level/item levels with the opponent
Around 32 Get the Whirl Wind Axe will literally change your life or if that’s too costly or time intensive which it is! Around 34+ get the quest in Desolance Down the Scarlet Path which gives an amazing Axe.
Take it and do Mad DPS for your level wont be as good as WW at low levels but its over all a better weapon.
Other than that learn your rotations and fight mobs under your level its all about critting for warriors max out that crit as much as possible. As you will be starving for it throughout the leveling process.
The 40 levels grind is real.
I haven’t been having any trouble yet. But I’ve been duoing with a healer and just doing dungeons repeatedly. Does it start to get harder to tank? I’m planning on going 11/0/40 Prot Warrior and it’s been a breeze so far.
What level is your Warrior OP?
yeah like i said right now im just a solo player haven’t really found a guild yet i know being able to tank at 60 will be great . well being able to tank at sm lvl will be nice if groups still run for that
111 is almost double the leveling process my friend, you are not early at all
To me warrior is poop on a stick until 40.
war is only 20
Yes. /chars
Definitively yes.
Warriors and rogues consistently top damage charts as they never run out of resources and are constantly laying out numbers. They are a powerhouse in PVP as well with huge Mortal Strike crits laying waste to foes in their path.
If you’re going a more balanced approach of 5/31/15 or 31/5/15, you will sacrifice some damage over time to have the option to board up and tank with the best of them.
Leveling is awful. You have lots of downtime and you’re slow slow slow until you hit 30 and get the Whirlwind Axe, then 40 and get Mortal Strike. To help you minimize downtime, grab yourself a set of full spirit gear and use an addon like ItemRack to swap to it when out of combat. You’ll regen health as quickly as you would eating, almost, and minimize the time spent doing nothing.
As a skinner, I’d kill something, swap to spirit gear, loot, skin, then swap back to damage gear. I had almost zero downtime, only stopping to bandage every so often. (Another tip - do not neglect your first aid. Ever.)
Stick with it. It’s very rewarding. You’ll thank yourself once you start seeing the numbers endgame.
thanks this is really helpful now hopefully i can get the WW Ax at 30 lol
The good news is that you can start browsing the AH now for some of the mats.
8x Life root
8x Thundering, Burning, Cresting Charms each (from the elementals in Arathi)
30x Bloodscalp Tusks (north western STV)
If you aren’t planning on getting help to actually farm the elementals then you’ll have to go the AH route. The bloodscalps aren’t terrible at 30 but it can be a nasty grind. can’t AH those.
Back on topic,
Everyone is basically right. Your main priority is having a solid weapon at your disposal. You’ll know how it feels when you have one and when you don’t. 31 point talents change things also so making sure you get one ASAP is a big deal. Till then you just have to take things slow. Have the Desolace axe now personally and I easily take on orange or lower mobs 2 at a time with minimal downtime. You’ll see how it feels when you get your WW axe (or mace if you’re human).
