Spear + Shield could be it’s own class ( I think Lotro called them Wardens) but it would at least be nice if the Hero Talents could open this up as an option for us!

The new hero specs or whatever they are called is missing the arms/prot Gladiator spec that people actually want and I don’t understand why Blizzard is being petty about it.

Probably because trying to balance it was a nightmare.
So adding 3 new specs per class to balance is easier than balancing a single sword and board dps? I don’t buy it.

You’d have to offset the extra tankiness of having a shield with either doing less damage or making them take extra damage or such.

Double-shield spec like the one guy in the gladiator sanctum in the Alliance garrison. Was that the alternate draenor version of Vindicator Boros?
Anyway, two shields please.
Also, prone spec for hunters. Giving up mobility for increased damage.
